I disagree. And im sure they regret it at this point. Ware has been arrested twice and Ford can't stick.

You think they could've been taken rounds 1-3? No way. Hill had already passed them up on the depth chart. He was head and shoulders better then either one of them. Had they stayed they don't get drafted. Now in Montgomery or Simon's case they no doubt should have stayed.

LSU backs havent exactly fared well in the NFL. To a point where as a whole, they haven't been appealing at all. That's not an attempted shot; just the facts.

While I'll agree as a whole, but give me teams that have that many. Addai had some good seasons, Ridley has had some good seasons, faulk had the best of any recently, Davis until he got hurt. Harvey Williams wasn't bad either. Then a slue of guys that just had back up roles.

Yeah I hear ya... I even said the same thing. NFL guys dont really look at how many carries or touches you got or whatever, as long as you were able to stay healthy and all that.

And I get what you are saying... but I dont think you can say we havent fared well with RBs in the NFL when we havent had any guys that were expected to do anything worth while in the NFL, minus Hill and Ridley. All the other guys were late round picks or UDFAs that were long shots to make rosters in the first place.

But, IMO, the RB spot is 1 of the weirder spots to predict in the NFL. Its a weird position and depends heavily on what system you go to and all that. You have a guy like TRich who has the college production, measureables, 40time, etc. And was the 3rd pick in the draft and looked solid as a rookie. Then goes to a new team and looks like crap. Hes still the same talented RB we have seen. But isnt a good fit in the scheme. And then you have someone like Pierre Thomas. Who never had more than 150 carries in a college season and ran the 40 in 4.67.... but got in a perfect scheme for his skillset and has been a good RB for a while now.

Just a weird spot to predict.

KG is spot on as always.
Lester's right , NFL scouts dont find LSU's RB's more appealing than any other well coached school.

LSU being a RBBC offense does very little in deciding where a player is drafted imo.
Stature along with previous injuries would be way more concerning for a scout than carries in college. We've heard that Nick Saban wears his guys out in college and thats why they arent producing as well in the pros. Personally, I think thats a reach.

2. LSU is a ball control running team and will continue to get most of their targeted RB's.

This is why I guess I at least expect something.

Forgot about Charles Scott too. He was drafted late, 6th round i think. But the league is littered with 6th rounders and UDFA's at the RB position .

But IMO, making an NFL game roster and getting on the field in any way is doing something.

Ware was supposed to be the starting FB for Seattle last year, was early on, then broke his foot(I think?). Then they re-signed Coleman, who is a bigger guy. And Ware has some off the field issues as well.

Ford was a long shot, but the Bears picked him up based off of his athletic ability, strength, and combine #s. But hes not a physical player, at all. Nor does he have that much agility. He always tries to get to the edge, and hes fast when he gets there. But other than that, not much else. Keiland is sorta in this mold as well, just a bit more physical than Ford. And he had some moments in the NFL and played for a few seasons.

Hester had some good years at the FB/RB hybrid role. But FB was his main position and its a dying spot.

I thought Scott would have made at least a splash in the NFL. But didnt he have some legal issues as well?

But I do see where youre coming from.

Does any school have more active backs than we do? Seriously we don't have stars but we have A LOT of backs in the NFL!

Ridley, Hill, Blue, Holiday, Ford and I am sure I am missing a few. Next year we will add Hilliard and McGee. #RBU

You sure he is still on a roster? Last I checked, he was cut from the bears.

Part of RBs being less important in the NFL is that all the rule changes in that league for the past 20 years have essentially made things easier on the QBs and WRs in that league.

Its not really the facts is it.

Addai had a decent career a couple of 1000 yard season
Ridley has had a 100 yard season.
Hill is just starting his career.

Special teams experience maybe, lesser touches no. Teams themselves dgaf about that.

Lesser touches is a boon for the recruits' longevity in the NFL though and it should matter in ther decision making process.

RB in the NFL, as we know it, is slowly going away.

The days of a single player carrying the load in the NFL are limited
Makes me think of something else that NFL is probably looking for that LSU (and several other schools) provide....

A multi-task back. LSU doesn't really have "specialized" backs. They all have to be able to do pretty much all the tasks. And blitz pickup would likely be at the top of the list.

With that in mind, the "do what the team needs" attitude the coaches have can only enhance the appeal of an LSU back for NFL scouts.

I think at this point the things RB should be thinking about it

Work load and scheme

I think it is becoming clear that RB are less and less valuable in the NFL.

Also on a completely different note, how about Hunter getting in the backfield almost before the handoff. As a OT you don't get burnt much worse than that. He almost tackled both the QB and the RB.
