Whoever thought to cast Redd is an absolute genius.

This needs to be on HBO worse than bad.

Dave and Redd are completely devoid of communication skills, but they were right about the food to a point.

"Rice and beans for every meal" is probably the way to go for a while until they figure out a way to earn some money.

Bella and her chicken tractor

This is great.

Dave and Red have to be borderline retarded, but they sure are funny.

The lawyer dude looks bewildered half the time at all the stupidity around him.

Bella is fricking nuts.

Definitely, I've also noticed that they hardly ever show the multiple partners chick, I guess she just stays in the background.

I don't find dave funny in the least bit. Red is just because he's red. Dave basically just does whatever red does, and he tries to act all hard "man prison got utopia beat for sure..." yeah ok pal, then frickin go back if you want. Smashing canned goods? Despicable.

inished the first episode last night. Will watch last night's new one this evening.

First episode was such a disaster. These people are incredibly stupid.

Red wasting water was hilarious. "Somebody come tell me I can't.." then Bella says he can't. "Somebody come turn this shite off.." then Bella turns it off.

Oh, and can we call them by their show names? Like "Ex-convict Dave" (whom I shall call Prison Mike from here on out) and "Handyman Red"? For some reason, it cracks me up when the narrator calls them that.

By the way, I fricking hate the narrator/host dude. He has a very punchable face.

Chef Aaron fricking sucks. I want to like him, and dude loves to play it off and pretend like he's cool...but he's just as hot-headed as the rest of these idiots. Dude gets all up in Handyman Red's face and then has the nerve to tell Red that if he touches his body one more time, he'll put him in the dirt.......IN THE DIIIIIRT!!!! Get the frick out of here, man. Don't try to play like you're all cool and then go off on somebody like that, and for what..cuz they wanted to cook something and you didn't want them to?

I did think it was hilarious how rough and tough Red was, right up until the shredded black dude gets in his face and calls him out.

This show makes me wonder if we will see a live murder on national TV.

Prison Mike is just as bad or worse than Red...they belong together. Dude wants to go off about every single little thing, but then an hour later wants to apologize and pretend like he just needs some space. BTW, his solution to every situation is "Just give them some space." It's pretty funny.

Unemployed Hex (I refuse to call her Huntress Hex) is laughable. Chick wants to be billy badass, but she can't even handle her alcohol and damn near kills herself. Hilarious. She's pretty hot though, I'll give her that.

Annoying Asian chick Bri is a ditzy fricking mess. Hearing her speak grinds my gears.

Fat Black Chick Amanda is an idiot for going there knowing she was pregnant. What a horrible, horrible (horrible) decision.

Lawyer Mike is hilarious. Dude comes off pretentious as frick to me. Him conducting the kangaroo court while half the people were like "frick this, I'm out" was awesome. And they gave Contractor Josh probation. Hilarious.

Speaking of Contractor Josh, might not be the best idea to basically sexually assault chicks on the first night there. You may not make very many friends like that. Also, was it me, or does he develop a NASTY accent when he is hammered? I honestly thought he was foreign that night, but then the next day he was speaking normally again (and was on the first day as well)

Napoleon Rob sucks bags of dicks. He's awful. I expect him to get his arse kicked pretty soon.

Pastor Jonathan is horrible. I get that his intentions are good (at least on the surface), but you can't go around forcing religion onto people. He hasn't done that quite yet, but that is apparently his plan. Also, stop crying...and relax a little bit. I do give him props for basically admitting that he avoids the naked chicks for fear that he will have unclean thoughts.

Prepper Bella is the worst on the show. Easily. Not only is she delusional, but she is legit crazy I think. They call her a "survivalist," but that's bullshite...she's one of those batshit insane doomsday prepper people. She wants Josh to stay because he deserves a second chance (because several people had already said that)...then she changes her mind and wants him gone. And then she is alone with him and is giggling, touching, and flirting SO HARDCORE with him. If I was Josh, I'd be confused as frick.

This show is fricking insane. I'm all in, for now...I just don't want to feel burdened by "having to" watch this show. Twice a week for a fricking year is a LONG arse commitment for a TV show.

Also, I have no idea how this show works.

Didn't it say that they all were gonna vote on who will be their next member? When does that happen?

Also, how the hell does the money work? I see that they had 5 grand (and I also see that Prison Mike and Hillbilly Redd steal it later on??) in cash...what the frick is that for? They can buy things from the outside world? I saw in a preview that they get groceries delivered at some point. Doesn't that kind of defeat the whole fricking purpose of being on their own and "having to survive"?

Also, how the hell are they supposed to "earn" more money? Or are they supposed to use that five grand and dole it out as payments for things, in order to start building a capitalist society?

Nothing is explained worth a frick on this show...no wonder it is all so chaotic.

I haven't seen any feeds, only what's actually been shown on TV, so I'll try to answer.

They can communicate with the outside world. They can't let it be a TRULY real "start from scratch" affair and just throw them on some land with NOTHING, or else they'd die. They give them some stuff (like cash) to start out with. As far as money, they can earn. Like if they build some shite they can sell it and make money, I THINK.

I'm still confused myself on how other people come into the show and some people leave. Not clear on that yet. I was real hammered during the premier last Sunday so I missed some stuff in the 2nd half of it. Last night's ep was pretty good. My opinions on a few people have changed, some for better, some for worse.

Well, what do you really expect when they all strip naked and get drunk? The OT would have a field day with victim blaming.

I thought he sounded like he had a touch of the Downs when he got drunk.

Yes, they can buy things from the outside world, but $5K isn't a lot.

I don't think it's about "having to survive" as much as how they structure their society. Surviving is just a part of that, and with money and fertile land shouldn't be a difficult part.

I have no idea how they are going to make money though, I guess selling produce or crafts? It's not like many of them had very marketable skills beforehand, and the ones that did (lawyer, contractor, chef, doctor) can't really provide those services to the outside world while they're on the inside. So they have to make something that becomes an "export" of sorts and I don't know what they're going to come up with.

I think it's gonna suck, or at least be disingenuous to the premise of the show, if they make some stupid crap and it sells for tons of money simply because people want to buy something that they made on the show. Sadly I can see that happening.

Here's a man we made out of old limbs, mud, and rotten tomato peels. Sold for $1,000!

For what though? Is it to buy things from the outside world, or to develop a money system within Utopia?

Also, Utopia is tiny as frick.

Build things with what though? There don't seem to be very many resources for something like that...it's not like there's a stockpile of wood or supplies they can build things with.

Maybe food that they grow? But they'd need that for sustenance more than to sell for money.

Yeah, seems weird. I was sober watching and couldn't really follow how it worked. Apparently all you have to do to leave is step out of the front gate (a la Reddneck). And if they'd have voted Josh out, I assume he would've just grabbed his shite and left..?

I swear they said that the members would be voting on their final member, but I'm not sure when (or how) they would do that though...they don't have internet access or a TV or whatever, so will they maybe just read profiles of people?

They are supposedly voting someone off every month and getting a new member. I guess if they banish someone or someone leaves, then that might speed up the new member process.

I wonder if they can vote to not remove anyone? No clue, but it seems like eventually they would weed out the ones who don't carry their weight, and if they are replaced by contributing members maybe there comes a time when they don't want to remove anyone.

since you're asking I assume you want an answer, which is given in the 2nd episode that was on last night. It is to buy things from the outside. Mainly groceries, but they can buy whatever the frick they want.

At one point the lawyer guy said first priority should be a fridge, which is exactly what I would buy first as well. He's clearly on another level than most of these fools.

I thought about that too, but then took it back. They only have a limited amount of money, and there's no guarantee they'll get much more, if any. Obviously a fridge can keep food for a while, but a fridge is damn expensive on their budget. I'd prefer to just stick to cheap non-perishables. Sure they won't be living in luxury food-wise, but they can stretch food for months on not much money.
