Yup, now let's get some of these beers on the shelves. Of the top 10 I think I could go buy one of those beers right now.

I just snagged two Ghost in the Machines from Martin's on Magazine.

But I wouldn't know where to find half of them, I agree with you

I think people's tastes have evolved, as well. Wasn't Envie around 18 months ago? It was not on the list. Hopitoulas is no longer on the list, but 18 months ago it was high on the list and ranked ahead of TR PGP and Abita Oyster Stout (both of which are still on the list).

I agree. Grand Reserve has proved to be more than just hype. I think GitM & G&G will do the same, although I've only had G&G once. I havent had All My Tomorrows but from what i've heard it should hold up as well. We'll see.

Its interesting to see ICS go from #1 to #16 while Grand Reserve holds steady at #2.

I'm sure availability and homerism play a role. Will be interesting to see how Goat and GG stack up next go round.

15/18 -- And I may have had a Bourbon Street Stout. I know for sure I haven't had any of the Great Raft beers.

Belgian style Tripel, so not as hoppy as many IPA drinkers like. Personally, I'd like it to be hoppier as well, but I've had other Tripels, and this one is good for that style.

For me, one of my Top 5 for LA brewed beers. I think I'm the only one here who put it in his/her Top 5, so take that FWIW. However, you should definitely give it a try.

I didn't vote because I don't live in LA and haven't had most of these, but I'll say GitM, Grand Reserve, and Grace and Grit are all legit top notch beers. I wasn't overly impressed with All My Tomorrow's and I think Abita Bourbon Street Stout is underrated. Abita Oyster Stout, NOLA GS Cookie, and ICS are all really solid stouts.

This may not be a list full of heavier hitters, but it bodes well for the future of LA craft beer. A variety of new styles have been added since the last time you did this list and those beers/styles are only going to grow and get better as time goes on.

Good stuff, tetu! You are a treasure to the FBD community.

I see that Great Raft - All My Tomorrows is a Saison. I have tried quite a few saisons and I can't get into them. Is there a beer path I need to take to get into saisons?

Furthest south I think they get right now is Natchitoches (maybe Alexandria). Not to mention the only two beers that made the list aren't available currently.

Craftier accounts in natchitoches will get special releases. I linked a press release in the homebrew thread about expansion south.

Can't believe this beer got rated so high. I'll give it another try but it tasted like carbonated black coffee the first time I had it and I like coffee...
It was thin and bland especially compared to they mystery romps and PGPs of the world.

I'm 18/18.

I'll say we definitely got the top 5 right. Although, I'd adjust the order a little.

18/18 too.

Can agree with the top 5 if we swap Girl Stout and Cow Catcher. They are close though.

I need to try girl stout again. I've only had a small pour of it once from a growler and it was in the middle of the tasting, so it didn't really register. I'm a big fan on ICS though.

I prefer regular ICS to the GS. I like most of the other ICS variants more than GS too. Throwing a shot of Jamie in a pint of ICS is pretty solid too.

Same here. It kinda tasted like drinking a Scope stout.
