Kwon was also out of position on one of the long TD runs. He pinched inside of Hunter and the play went right into the spot he vacated. That was all on him. Kwon was the star on D, but he made mistakes as well. When Chief had him execute run blitzes in the 2nd half it turned the game around.

I just re-watched the game and DJ Welter doesn't belong on the field. He must be a genius at getting people lined up because with him on the field, we're playing with 10 defenders.

Even if it costs us a game?

You don't think Welter is costing us valuable yards on the inside? I agree, put either Feist or Beckwith in and let Kwon call the defense.

Future might be Garett at MLB and Beckwith at an outside spot

I agree. He lugs around and is always late to the scene.

OK genius, what's your review on Beckwith? Does he have a "nose for the ball", etc?

Anybody that rewatched the game wanna tell me how many times Welter got totally blocked out of a play? It seemed like every single time he was second leveled by an o-line man.

He was totally out of position on Gordon's TD run

Sure, if by out of position you mean he had two offensive lineman to fight off.
It's not that he was out of position it's that nobody blocked him and it's his hole to fill and all he did was dive and catch air while the opponent's running back ran into the endzone. No doubt in my mind Welter would have been closer to tackling Gordon.

I was pulling for Beckwith too but if you come in there and totally frick up what is the coach supposed to do?

Man what I wouldn't give to see Kwon slide over to MLB and bump Debo Jones up in Kwon's old spot.

Rewatching the game, kwon was lining up everyone.

Welter had one solo tackle

not sure Beckwith is suited for MLB. Sure he will in time be better at it than Welter, if he isn't already, but he seems more suited for OLB. Doesn't seem to have the hard nosed mentality of a MLB but may be a great OLB. Kwon is our best LB and is tough enough to slide inside to MLB if Garrett or Feist can't do it. We have other guys who can do a good job and are ready to get more pt at OLB and could fill Kwons current role in our d.

with all his physical talent, not really showing he has a 'nose for the ball' yet. We desperately need more production from the MLB spot from somebody. (that somebody could easily be Kwon even if it isn't the ideal position for him)

His gap? What are you talking about? He was on the right, the run went to the left. He fought off one lineman only to run into the play side tackle who tried to block him as well. He got around him in time to dive at Gordon's legs. Had it not been for the second lineman, he would have had a shot at the tackle.

I watched Welter over and over again on the run plays. He is blocked on almost every running play. It often appears that he runs right to whichever OL comes clean through the DL. Once he is locked up, he cannot release.

It looks like the d-line was crashing hard to the left and he followed up right behind them while the play was going right. I don't know if the defense was trying to guess there or if Beckwith should have been working with Kwon to close off the run. Kwon meanwhile went way to the right and was blocked out by 88, either a slot receiver or TE, when he tried to come back.

If Welter was 52 or 4 on that play I am pretty sure you would be reaming him.
