They gave me Sunday Ticket Max for free and changed my billing address to the in-laws' in AZ. I now have Phoenix local channels, but the Saints won't be blacked out on Ticket. Fair trade IMO.
If a deal is reached, cool. Got free Redzone channel out of it.

I know Cox is actually more expensive.
im actually interested in just how much cheaper satellite is. ive always been nervous over the picture cutting in and out and can only get cox in orleans parish (so no at&t).
i have their middle tier internet, hd box with dvr, sports package, and hbo. my bill is $150/month. i would rather be around $100, but ive honestly had 0 issues in 2 years with them. the first year my bill was around $100. no matter who you are with, your discounts will eventually end. all things equal, is satellite that much cheaper?
always sound like a pain in the arse to deal with.

that sucks. Football it doesn't bother me much as I'll be at every home game and two away games.
Plus the antennae. (and it DOES NOT have to be some expensive super duper antennae. ) My cheap antennae does just fine.
($25)
But this messes up my DVR, better have this fixed before the shows start in a few weeks.

Well, I pay 109 for Directv, but that is only for 4 rooms. One is dvr. Then I have Cox internet basic for 48.99. So I'm at 160 and I think you are doing better than me with what you have.
Do you mind telling me exactly what services you have? I went online today and tried to bundle tv/internet but I was forced to go up a tier on the tv because of NFLN. Have to have premier bundle to get it. So I was at 186 per month at checkout.
I'm gonna make a decision tomorrow on what to do.

if theres a cox office around, it significantly helps you as weird as it may be. when i first registered and did it in person, the sales guy randomly hooked me up with all kinds of shite for a year. after year 1, my bill was going to be around $180 so i went back in just to tinker with the bill. at least call and talk to someone rather than just going off of their site. the sales people usually have promotions, especially if you tell them you are thinking of switching from directtv.
i cut a few things but for some reason the sales guy gave me another deal to go down to $150. pricing over there is crazy, i will say. i think they make shite up depending on how they feel.
my tv comes out to $94.47, thats one HD DVR box, hbo, sports package.
for internet i have their 25mbps package for $48.99
then theres like $6 of fees/taxes every month. so its usually around $160 which is about what you pay. i just have never had issues with cox before.

This is your problem. With DirecTv you have to threaten to leave to get the good deals. Call them ask to speak with cancellation dept, tell the cancel rep what u want to stay, and he will give you the best deal possible.

I was talking about Cox. I was online shopping their bundles before I called/went in for a quote.

I just switched to directv. I have 1 genie and 1 mini genie. I pay $51 a month. I have the choice package. I get most of the sports channels. all the ESPN channels, NFL network , NHL betwork, mlb network, NBA network, a couple of fox sports channels.
It was going to cost me $61 but I used referral a friend and saved $10 for 10 months. So after those 10 months my bill goes up to $61 for 2 months then goes up $83 for the final 12 months of my contract.
I have all movie channels for 3 months and the NFL Sunday ticket this year for free.
I was paying $180 with cox with TV and internet. I only kept my internet and pay $60 with that.

Doesn't Tom Benson own WVUE Fox 8?

The hang up with Directv is how much additional rooms cost. With cable, can't you still get some of the basic channels with just the line coming from wall? So I could have a dvr and like one other room and the kids can just get a few channels straight from the wall with no box?
And my initial Directv bill was 75 per month for 6 months, then it jumped to 85, then after a year 109. Plus my Cox internet of 48.99 ands that puts me at 158.99. Talking to Cox I can prolly get a higher tier internet connection and cable for around 175 if I go into the Denham office and work a deal up. It's worth it to me because of directvs bullshite. And no local office to go to for issues. And the fricking shite cuts out if someone farts hard. Just tired of it.

I have 8 rooms with service and am paying $95/mo. I do not have any of the pay stations. With that I believe I pay $110

Just got off phone with DTV, and I was offered $10 off for 1 month
I have a year under contract still, so I guess I am not one of the ones they are worried about cancelling. Oh wellz

I got a $35 credit. about 20 months remaining on my contract.
I specifically mentioned the cost of an HD antenna I will have to buy.

how do people not know this
You think Benson isnt going to make sure a deal is reached before football season? Dont be so naive.

Benson has nothing to do with this (it's much bigger than him, actually) as the disagreement is between the company he pays to manage the station and DTV.
In any case, I wouldn't worry as these things happen all the time and I cannot recall one ever lasting into the football season.

i realize that, but to say he has nothing to do with pushing to get a deal done is absurd.

I called and received Sunday Ticket for free, 3 months of Showtime and Cinemax for free, genie upgrade, and $30 off my bill for the next 12 months. Not a bad deal
