You cherry-picked the one play where he was caught ball-watching.

Harden has been playing good defense this tournament.

Yet amazingly, team USA always has the best defense of any team in these tournaments.

He really has, for the most part. And I'm not sure how everyone keeps watching this play and only see Harden as playing bad D. Kyrie Irving gambled and took himself completely out of the play (for the 2nd time on that possession, mind you, although the gif doesn't show his first bad gamble) and it was going to be a hoop either way, but no one notices his bad D. You could do this kind of thing for damn near any player in the league.

Anyone defending that pitiful display of effort by Harden is just being a Rockettes homer.

Who is defending that particular play?

And if you want to talk about being homers, look at all of the Pellies fans in this thread and other threads who just can't wait to call out Harden for any little thing.

If you think that's typical nba defense from what you've watched, it's probably best you don't watch any more.

NBA defense is better and more complex than it ever has been, its really not much of a debate to be honest.

It's typical Harden defense, but most elite NBA players actually give somewhat of a frick on both sides of the ball

He's the exception.

Harden has played some great D at times in this tournament, but this play is indicative of him: sometimes, he just half asses it on D. It's not an isolated incident...sometimes he does this, and sometimes he locks people down.

That's the frustrating part of Harden's game: he has elite skill and strength, is a very good ball handler at SG, and can dominate a game if he chooses too, but on the flip side he gives inconsistent effort, can get ball dominant, and instead of letting his game play clean and dictate, he constantly relies on referees. The perfect JH line is about 4/12 from the FG but going 13/14 from FT.

If he had someone light a constant fire under him he could be a great. But he won't be. Instead he'll be a really good SG.

Not true. He averages 7.5 field goals made per game on 16.5 attempts. Broken down, that's 2.4 of 6.6 attempts from 3-point land, and 5.1 of 9.9 2-point attempts.

And he makes 7.9 of 9.1 free throw attempts per game.

So an average James Harden state line is something like:

26 points on 8/17 shooting, 7 of 9 from the line.

Has he had games where he's gone about 4/12 and made a lot of free throws? Yes.

But once again, people focus on the outliers and not the norm.

this thread was legitimately made to try and talk about Anthony Davis. it's pretty obvious when the OP brought him up like 3 times for no reason. if you wanna suck off Anthony Davis, that's great, he's awesome. go start a thread on the pelicans board and get a circle jerk going.

Oh, they already have their circle jerk going on over there. It's unbelievable how much they suck off AD.

And also... Pelicans fans talk about Harden more than Rockets fans do. They're obsessed.
