there's just no emotional depth I look for in songwriting from them

fantastic musicians and some great jams, but it comes off as very shallow to me.

you have to take acid to "get it"

They still have gems in most of the shows, just not entire sets that blow you away.

Now the vocals and jams suck.
the vocals are ok. they've always been just average.

the lyrics are pretty fricking stupid. i liked Phish lyrics when they were obviously just nonsense, the second Trey started putting some sort of emotional depth into the lyrics, they went from mediocre to goddawful

basically if Trey would have OD'ed in about '99 and got replaced by a better guitarist/musician, I bet Phish would be KILLING it right now

I actually think phish is the best band to watch on acid.

The shows are setup extremely well for spun people

Jack white would have probably taken his place if I had to guess

And OP, to try and be helpful and not totally derail your thread

I posted this last time on here and some of my MB colleagues said it was a bad jam to suggest to a n00b, but I don't think so. you gotta jump in to learn how to swim, right?

check this one out, this is an example of later 90's Phish jamming styles, Trey killing it on guitar the first half of the jam, and a full band funk groove jam the second half of the jam. if you like this, then you'll probably enjoy Phish:

They have good jams, but you have to wade through some really cringeworthy vocals, lyrics, and songs to get there.

I listened for a bit and these two comments prob best sum up my feelings... I enjoyed a lot of the instrumentals, but hated the lyrics. If they were sans lyrics, I could def see them as something I could put on the stereo and just let play as I did stuff around the house.

Talented musicians, just not my cup of tea. Jam on Phish fans

STS9 blows. But they have recently been getting better. I'd catch them of they were in my town. I've never been disappointed by Snarky Puppy. Ground Up is a good album.

From what I've gathered in this board you have a pretty terrible opinion and a serious lack in taste of music so I won't take your comments too seriously. Once you graduate high school you'll understand
