This phrase is usually a way to rationalize dumb, overbearing state and local laws.

The problem with that theory, is that it views high tax revenue for the government as a positive thing. It isn't.
How about having a low corporate tax rate AND a low individual tax rate so Americans (ya know, the people who ARE the country) can keep THEIR money in THEIR pockets.
The less money the government receives from citizens and businesses, the better.

While I agree with that to a certain point, lower taxes just aren't realistic right now.
We actually need higher taxes to fix our fiscal problems, along with entitlement reform and decrease military spending.
Attack the problem from all angles, get it fixed sooner rather than later or never, then lower taxes below what they are today.
I know that won't happen and we will just keep running up the debt, but that is still what I think needs to happen and I want my smaller getting fuct now rather than a massive arse raping in ten years or twenty. Because it's coming.

Fair enough, however, I feel that not only should a majority of spending cease, but once we get that under control, start eliminating wasteful programs that have somehow made their way on to the list of untouchable apportioned tax dollars.
Essentially we (or the government rather) not only need to stop buying new clothes, going out to eat every night and running up our credit card, but we also need to cut out the cable, get rid of the dual car notes and eat PB&J for every meal to catch up on this ridiculous debt we've accrued.
Unfortunately congress is most likely too far gone for any semblance of that (or any semblance of fiscal responsibility for that matter) to occur.

Think about it, our entire society is based upon those things you say we shouldn't do. Living beyond our means permeates our very culture.

It's not a popular situation, but I have no problem with them leaving. Business isn't meant to be friendly and cutesy, it's about the bottom line - has nothing to do with how they view America. Same with several other American companies who opted to set up corporate shop outside the US.
Tax laws here unfairly treat some companies well while others get favorable treatment *see GE

We must live in a different universe than you.
Where do you folks get your ideas of this "tea party?"

You can usually spot the most mindless of the liberals when they begin talking about the tea party.

Definitely indoctrinated. The hot buttons are "Tea Party" "Fox" and now, the "Koch Bros."
Many who associated with the early Tea Party movement, which has long died, weren't the "love it or leave it" type. The felt they were the outsiders.

I attended the first Tea Party back in 2008.
I'm such a Republican

But Bernie Sanders sez the effective tax rate is only 12%

Yeah, the first tea party groups around here in 2009 were mainly independent, libertarian leaning people. I think their cohesiveness lasted a few months and they lost interest.

Organizing libertarians is like herding cats. I'm not surprised.
