I agree. I can see BvS being very serious, then JLA being a little more lighter and (for lack of better term) innocent with the addition of GL and Flash.

I think DC is saying not every member of the JLA has to crack a joke every 5 minutes of the movie.

But if they are serious about absolute zero jokes, then I think it will flop.

Sounds like you wrote an an interesting story/plot.

So who was the mystery villian?

And I'd still at least pair Bizzaro or Parasite with Luthor before Metallo. But that's just me.

Still think Braniac would make for a great villian in a Supes movie.

Basically a Russian guy with Ms Marvel powers. Huge god complex and incited a global war just to destroy Superman's legacy. At the end, about half a billion people are killed because of him, and Superman is seen as the scourge of the Earth who provoked it.

I'd entertain Parasite over Metallo, but not Bizzaro. Bizzaro is Zod but not as smart or interesting.

Perfect description of everything that was wrong with Man of Steel, and that's coming from someone who enjoyed it despite its shortcomings.

This new movie looks like it's going to be a train wreck, but I'm trying very, very hard to keep an open mind.

Sounds like you've writen some pretty good stuff. Few years ago i wrote an ouline of a triology:

1st film having Braniac create Bizzaro, only to test Supes as Braniac is interested in the last known Kryptonian alive. Bizzaro would be controlled by Braniac from space (behind the scenes). Meanwhile, Luthor discovers Braniacs existance and does not like the idea of another alien coming to Earth. He discovers a way to block Braniacs control of Bizzaro. While in control, Bizzaro is a formidable opponent. When not in control, the typical "Me am Bizzaro" from the comics and jus smashes shite. Luthor uses Bizzaros chaos against Supes.

2nd movie would be Supes v Braniac, with the backdrop of Luthor running for POTUS and plotting to rid the Earth of aliens.

3rd movie would be Luthor using the combined DNA of Braniac and Bizzaro to create Doomsday.

This is of course an extremely simplistic synopsis....

3rd film: Agree. Brainiac could be one if the missing elements in the Superman cinamatic world. He would be a perfect addition.

I don't know why they've never gone the Brainiac direction, he's one of Superman's more interesting fores.

But that goes back to this:

quote:

Serious, I partly agree with you. Luthor has been in like 4 Superman movies since the 78' version,

DC is extremely myopic when it comes to putting things on screen. They'd rather do the same thing, with the same villains,in slightly different situations every single time.

They miss opportunities to give fans more interesting or more flexible characters and villains. It keeps them limited in what they can do and gets a little stale, regardless of how different Luthor might be this time around.

Loki.

And?

When you craft a universe with a bunch of a persistent characters and an escalating story, you're going to have a villain or two return. Not only that, but Thor, The Avengers and Dark World feature Loki in very different capacities.

And Loki's arc has been more interesting than any big screen Luthor so far (only because Hackman's versions became so dumb), by a fairly large margin.

And put it this way: We got Elektra and Gamora on a big screen before Wonder Woman. That's insane. That's all I mean.

It's really my point with Luthor. He doesn't need to be the main villain to be shown effectively. He's a very flexible character who can be the villain or anti-hero if the plot calls for it. Superman the Animated Series did great with this.

Agree.

And that's so other, more unique villains can come in and be featured as the main villain or sub-villain to Luthor.

I just want to see more from DC, not the 7th rendition of Lex Luthor or the Joker.

Once DC announces and produces the Captain Marvel movie none of this will matter. That is the franchise with the most potential.

they are too fricking cheap to just pay off Marvel to get the name fully backso he wont be Captain Marvel. When they redid him for New 52 they made him a moody shithead teen.

I can see Shazam being a far more serious movie than it should be w/the way DC/Warner has been rolling.

I highly doubt they will bring in characters like Tawky Tawny or Uncle Marvel/Dudley.

pretty sure it was a big lawsuit. its been going on for years. so instead of leaving it in legal limbo, they moved forward with the character. whatever it takes to finally make decent starts with Earth's mightiest mortal, im behind.
