Yeah ... that is one of the all-time shockers, right there.

If that dude wanted to do jihad ... he should have set his sights on Zach's "IT'S FRIDAY" threads.

Recon how long it takes before some of the "home grown" wackos try their wares on the home turf?

From Adam Lanza to Timothy McVeigh, our homegrown wackos have already proven their ability to wreak havoc without traveling to the Mideast to train.

To be fair, McVeigh probably did travel to the US and train a bit-- I mean what with serving in the Gulf and all.

The question is, if we had droned his arse would people be whining about "Obama killing another American without a warrant" like they did about al-Alwlaki?

McCain was actually fighting on the battlefield, while all al-Alwlaki ever did was run his mouth, but was never involved in planning or carrying out attacks. I guess al-Alwlaki was probably guilty of giving aid and comfort to the enemy, a la Jane Fonda, but not much else.

Wrong. Also killed in the drone strike on al-Alwlaki was one of AQ's chief bomb-makers. He was openly soliciting warfare against the country and openly facilitating our enemies. Good riddance.

The Muslims of Chechnya beg to differ. Just ask the surviving Tsnarnev brother.

How do you know all this? What is the mental state of a person who admits to being an avid listener of a "psycho conspiracy theorist?"

I don't listen to that idiot. I made the mistake of clicking on one of his videos once. Watched about 2 minutes of it.

Where did I say that I was an avid listener? I said you were. You're crazy.

Before the Boston Marathon bombing, had the U.S. ever been attacked by Chechens before? Do you think Obama should have ordered airstrikes on Chechnya after the bombing?

As I stated earlier, US soldiers have been attacked by Chechens in Iraq, most notably in Fallujah. So yes, they have definitely presented threats to Western countries such as the US.

We hadn't been attacked by Al Queda until the first time they attacked us either. Or Japan, or Germany....

Now you're reaching. The Chechen rebels and Al Qaeda are pursuing two different agendas, Iraq is not the U.S., and everybody knows that Al Qaeda recruits from all over the world including the U.K. Should the FBI follow all British citizens who come to this country just because one of its citizens just beheaded an American? Besides, if Putin had told us that the Boston bomber had visited Iraq, I'm sure it would have gotten the FBI's attention.

Both produce terrorists. Northern Ireland in the UK is known for IRA (anti-British) terrorists. Chechnya in the Russia is primarily known for anti-Russian terrorists. The Al Qaeda terrorists from either place are the exception, not the rule, as opposed to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan which are fertile breeding grounds for Al Qaeda.

When members of the IRA go to other countries to fight Americans, then I'll agree with you. Until then, I maintain that Chechnya has a definite possibility of producing people who would like to strike Western targets that include the US.

Of course Chechnya has a possibility of producing anti-American terrorists just like the UK, France and Spain do. But before Richard Reid (shoe number) tried to blow up that airliner, the U.S. had never been attacked by British terrorists, and there was a presumption that British terrorists were anti-British, IRA types, not Al Qaeda. Similarly, before the Boston Marathon bombings, there was a presumption that Chechen terrorists were anti-Russian types, not anti-American, Al Qaeda types.

Also, let's be honest. Putin isn't the type of guy who has shown himself to be sympathetic to American interests, and when the FBI asked for more information on the Chechen, the Russians clammed up, so I can see why the FBI might conclude that Putin was trying to use us to go after Russia's enemies, rather than looking out for the U.S.

Since 9/11, a lot of our previously held assumptions are being gradually dispelled every day, and this just another one of them.
