First Among Equals by Jeffrey Archer for an international politics class back in the 1980s. Pretty much read most of his other stuff right after. Was just as informative as the text for the class, too.

If OP means like the whole class read it and studied it together then

High school - Brave New World. Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut for a book report.

College - Pride and Prejudice

The Great Gatsby
The Old Man and the Sea.

Sadly, I don't recall Catcher in the Rye being required reading.

The fact that no one has mentioned Catch-22 or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest yet is a fricking travesty.

Also, The Once and Future King has got to be up there for me, along with your typical Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Things They Carried, etc.

ETA: Apologies. REG mentioned One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Killing Mr. Griffin. About killing your HS English teacher. Assigned by my HS English teacher; whose name, alas, was not Mr. Griffin.

I liked "Night" by Elie Wiesel alot too. Man that book bored me like no other. I know that some bad shite happened....but the same bad shite happened on every page it felt like. Was a long time ago though.....maybe if I read it now.....but I won't.

Let me help you out. From a guy who just read it I can tell you that your description is very accurate and it's not worth reading again. I think a lot of it is bullshite anyway.
