Still will have issues, but better than what we had in the BCS.
I would love for a 16 team playoff. Just because a team losses 1 or 2 games during the season doesn't mean they can't beat a team with a better record. There is so much disparity in college football and talent levels. Just because a team has a better record than you, doesn't mean they are the better team. Goes back to the whole 1 loss SEC team vs undefeated team from a diff conference.
But, the new playoff system is at least a start in the right direction.

Playoffs will ruin college football.

Have a committee pick the teams means they can pick the teams that will give the best network ratings.

Should be an 8 team play-off - the 5 major conference champions get automatic bids, with 3 at large spots for anyone else, whether from a smaller conference or teams from the 5 major conferences who didn't win their championship but otherwise fall within the top 8 teams in the country.
The selection system is always going to be an issue and someone deserving will get left out, no matter the number of teams in the play offs or whether computers or humans are doing the picking.

Every year the basketball playoffs take 64 teams. Some team is always saying they were wrongly left out.How does anyone believe taking 4 teams is not going to leave someone out.Just my opinion

Who will broadcast the games? If it's ESPN I have no faith in it being done fairly. Just look back at the crap they pulled against Oklahoma State a few years ago.
They're ALL about money and will go to any length possible to sway voters.
I'm also confident the SEC HQ will go to any length to get their home state darlings into the mix regardless of their record, etc.
I JUST WANT FOOTBALL! Screw the make believe titles. Twenty years from now the Gumps will claim the title anyway.

It should expand to 8 teams. There should be 5 automatic bids from the winners of the SEC ACC PAC12 BIG 10 BIG 12. And there should be 3 at large teams. IMO

Need 8 teams.
Hate the idea of the committee.
Better than BCS yes, but not by much we still will have many flaws.
THIS
Cut out the TRASH GAMES on the schedule to make room for the playoff games.

Oh sweet Lord. The college football season has not even had it's first game and people are bitching about it already?

Then why continue to expand it? Since when is making something less elite better?
The problem is regular season inequality. The only true way for a playoff system to "work" ( as good as it does in professional sports) is for the league to assist with parity and for the guidelines/qualification to be clearly stated prior to the season.
Any selection process for a college football playoff is stupid and just awarding it by conference or season finish is even dumber.
All we have done with a playoff is taken what two teams have proved almost every year that they deserved to play for and added more teams to generate more money.

should be a 127 team playoff starting at the beginning of the season.

I hate the committee idea
It puts the power in the hands of hype etc. You'll see west coast teams get more power because of their scoring/no defense yet exciting games. It's bad for the SEC vs the impartial BCS system.

What he said.
I feel for the fans that truly want to travel. How do you plan? Which do you pick? What if you guess wrong? That will only get worse if you add more teams.

One of the members of the committee is Condoleezza Rice, Stanford grad and born in Birmingham Alabama.
Looks like two teams already have an in

No. I mean stating OSU would need to win by double-digits (which they obviously didn't think would happen) to earn a spot in the BCS Championship and then begin trashing them after OSU destroyed Oklahoma.
I mean having Nick Saban in the studio to continuously make his case while continuing to blast Oklahoma State.
I mean caving to the demands of the SEC HQ (to have their darlings in the game) while in negotiations for a SEC Network.
ESPN has far too much influence and can definitely persuade voters by their choice of selective commentary and/or video footage. For them to also be the network to broadcast the games should be a case for alarm as they will definitely choose money over fairness.
If you think they'll do what's right over doing what's in their best interest, you're fooling yourself. If you're okay with them picking based on revenue instead of who deserves to be there, then what's the point in having a playoff?

- 8 teams
- 5 conf champions and the 3 highest ranked at larges using the BCS formula
- Rank them 1-8 using BCS formula
- Round of 8 (first 4 games) are played January 1st on top 4 teams campuses
- Round of 4 (2 games) played in rotating BCS bowls on January 7th
- Round of 2 (title game) played in rotating BCS bowl on January 14th
This satisfies playoff need, conference championship importance, timeline for student athletes, brings major money to top 4 teams with onsite games, and still uses the BCS games.
