See i play madden for franchise and be an nfl superstar modes. It was something that 2k did perfectly. It really is depressing to buy madden every year hoping for some fun or improvements and be disappointed every time. Progression is always arbitrary and done only at the end of each season and there's no mini games or anything worth doing other than playing 16-19 games each season.
Without those modes even working i wont buy this new madden, which sucks because i really really want to buy it.
They were on the right track a few years ago when they actually improved it. They had player roles you could grow into and you had to pick different roles on the field at different times and they affected different stats.
Then the next year all of that was gone and the mode itself was gutted. I was so goddamn dissapointed.

I have to say, this is the first time since I was a teenager, I've been chomping at the bit to play madden

I almost jimp when Kenny Vaccaro knocked out sam Bradford
or when jimmy graham out jumped janoris Jenkins an another defender, turned while coming down with the ball and tapped those 2 toes just inside the white line in the back of the endzone
and stiff arming finally works
love the improved mechanics and animations
love the d camera
love the dline play

you misunderstand me, the last 10 years has been a bag of shite, I fully expected this one to be awesome...but I also have zero faith the upward trend will continue, and one awesome game in 10 years doesn't change the fact that the franchise has been stale.
they'll tack on some cheap gimmick next year, then it'll be gone the next or manage to stay around for one more game without improvement before going away...
if they greatly improve the booth announcers, cut down on the glitches, do something about the PS2 looking sidelines, I'll have restored faith in the brand
I suspect this year is so awesome because it's next gen and this time, their gimmick was a home run (making defense fun)

also look at what I responded to, the series as a whole isn't very strong, and the brand has lost some fanatically loyal consumers.
they think they need to make some huge leap to sell games every year, but really they just need to incrementally improve
next year fix the crowd, sidelines and booth announcers and do some 2k14 style halftime interviews
then the next year touch up some animations or add more
they think they need a gimmick to sell games, I don't think they do...the focus has been on the wrong things lately and that is directly related to their exclusive licensing agreement

me too, they kind of did with the training programs, in the spirit of getting better at the game, and improving as a madden player it's better
in terms of drills and minigames, not so much
