SNL is an institution.
They can suck for half a decade and retain their spot on NBC's schedule.
Competitive shows do not go head to head with SNL, they pick another night and time (as Fridays and In Living Color did).
Better skit comedy programs have come and gone, SNL is still here.

I know people have been saying SNL sucks for the past few years, but are people watching? How are the actual ratings?

Snl has been solid lately. People who hate it just think its the thing to say. When you watch old snls they have just as many bombs as they do now. Just when thinking if past we only think og the hits and not the ones that were shite skits

I'm surprised at the "ILC not holding up" talk in here. I watched a good bit of sketches not too long ago on YouTube and I laughed my arse off. I think it holds up pretty well.
