Or more like hate - from what I hear.

But - it's understandable to not like a show mocking North/West Coast liberals - if you really don't know what they're about - then you won't get the in-jokes and themes if you've never lived around them.

And then it's not funny to you...because...Portlandia is specific with their humor...they have scouted the area...know the people...

They aren't building their humor on far-away prejudice and stereotype.

I missed this thread, but this might be one of the best comedies of the 2000's. It's no Arrested Development, but I laugh hard at this show.

Just watched the episodes where Rosanne steps in as temp mayor and just doesn't understand why Portland can't be a normal city

Hilarious. Have a friend that lived out in that area for awhile and said it's absolutely spot on as well.

This scene has me in tears almost everytime I watch it.
