It's a 7 day hold and the amount of firearms you buy has nothing to do with it. Unless you purchase several pistols at one time. That can cause a flag. Nascarfan was correct that someone with a like name could have a record and they have to make sure it ain't you or it could be that your record has something that they need to check into.

I've told this story precious times. I sold guns in the gun library and gun counter at Cabela's for 2 years. TWIC cards don't mean an automatic delay, but the percentage of delays is significantly higher with TWIC card holders than non-holders

I admit it is funny when they see my whole name and then that I check the box as "Latino/Hispanic". But then they don't care once they see my permit.
