No doubt. shite I started drinking the "fancy" beer to see wtf all yall on here were jabbering about. And I like it.. or a lot of it anyway. I get a ton of flack from my circle of rednecks when I bust an All day IPA out on em. But in the end I'm bigger than most of em so frick it.

I'm confused. Your OP said you're as snobby as they come in reference to beer, but you don't seem to be that way about food.

That's absolutely correct.

.. So why is it that being that way about food "should" have a negative stigma.

Being a snob about anything should have a negative stigma, not just food. Unlike a lot of folks, I'm not above admitting my faults. If someone thinks I'm an a-hole because I will be snobby with beer, I understand. I try to keep those opinions to myself because being pretentious and snobby to someone sucks. But it doesn't mean I'm not thinking it.

Snobs pretending they aren't snobs because they occasionally eat what the commoners eat is the snobbiest thing ever

Well, it's certainly and predictably taken off in a different direction than what I intended.

I just find it a little conflicting that I can be a beer snob, but not food snob, wine snob, liquor snob, etc

I am a toilet paper snob. I really do look down on people that buy single ply.

it never fails if I'm drinking with my non craft beer friends, whether I order at a bar or bring beer to a party, they always comment on my beer with something like "what is this gay shite?" I never comment on their beer choices until they comment on mine happens every time

This happens to me on a regular occasion if Im with a particular group of friends. Ive made a few red ale's that they could appreciate. They couldnt handle the IPA's ive done or even the APA that was very very delicious. I wasnt offended but I chuckled inside and just let it go. My Dad and I are always after each other in a joking way. He is the typical Natural Light drinker and I am always drinking something different, usually an IPA. He calls my beer piss. Go figure.

Understandable. No need to even associate with those savages.

I'm pretty adaptive. If I'm hanging out at a friends house, drinking and watching football all day, I'll probably just end up buying the same beer as him (probably of the BMC variety) and sharing an ice chest. But, if I'm holding a party at my own house I'll buy quality craft beer.

With food, I'll usually suggest a restaurant, unless it's someone's birthday (or other occasion) and they want to go to a specific place. I'll probably bitch to my wife if it's a shitty place, but won't comment to others about it

I'm not necessarily a food snob, in regard to the actual food, but I like to support local and locally owned restaurants over chains. This isn't really much different than my beer snobbery though. If I'm going to eat a burger, I'm going to Burgersmith or Fat Cow over McDonalds or Five Guys. 1) it's going to be better, and 2) I'm supporting a locally owned small business.

Liking something different than what someone else likes does not make you a snob. Looking down on or ridiculing other people for liking something else makes you snob.

You'll pay that for a wine, won't you? Why not for a beer in a 750 mL bottle? Generally not going to be quite as boozy, though there are some that clock in at 10+% ABV, but some of your sours and barrel aged beers have amazing complexity and are incredibly flavorful.

If it's a good one, I'll drop $20 without hesitating.
