Yeah it really should go without saying that anyone who holds his positions is an atheist.

I want to know what is so magic about the door through which "fetuses" become "babies" that on one side they can't feel pain or suffer and on the other side they can.

For one thing the development of a central nervous system.

It's one person's opinion and that one opinion gets so many upset.

If you truly do believe in God, then you shouldn't fear death. Not for you nor for a DS baby.

It has nothing to do with fear. Life is a gift.

I lost whatever respect I had for the man, which wasn't much to begin with. When he labels the people I know, struggling to care for these children as "immoral" he puts his idiocy on display for the world to see. These are some of the best parents, and they usually learn more from the child than they are able to teach the child. eg. Gene Stallings

Yeah, they're often very happy people, but if I was going to have a kid with Downs, sorry but I'd have to go with the abortion. My life as I know it would be completely over. Maybe it's selfishness but I know I couldn't deal with it well, and it's not like anyone would adopt him or her.

Dawkins is entirely correct here. We wait patiently for the day when our learned betters can diagnose prenatal imperfections enabling responsible parents to sensibly abort future drains on our society. That's why I hate Blues. Why don't musicians play a note perfectly on key?

We are going back to eugenics. It's happening.
aborting downs syndrome fetuses isn't really eugenics as people with downs syndrome have a very low chance of producing viable offspring anyway

I'm not saying it's right to abort them but calling it eugenics if they are aborted is incorrect.

This has nothing to do with him being an atheist and everything to do with him being an a-hole.

It's the fricking definition of eugenics. If there was a "gay gene" and people could abort those children, it would still be eugenics, and it would still be evil.

This is nonsense. I also believe beating your children is wrong. Those that choose to believe there is no right and wrong in the world are cowards.

Da frick? That's the fricking dictionary example of selfishness.

Incorrect. Being an atheist allows him to have such opinions without worrying about inconsistency of belief.

A Christian could not hold that opinion and still call himself a Christian.

That general idea is one of the reasons that even if I didn't believe in God, I would want lots of other people to.

Ok, try this on for size. I am against the abortion, just wanted to make that known. But if someone told me right now I was going to be reborn with DS, I would want to be aborted for my sake and my families sake.

Once again, selfishness.

What? I am choosing to save my family from what something that changes their lives forever. And that makes me selfish? Weird
