I'd like to see Celtic in the Prem, Motherwell, Dundee United in the Championship, and Rangers/Hearts/Hibs League 1. Turn the SPL into the Welsh or Irish League.

No love for the team who finished 3rd in that league?

The only talent in the SPL is Celtic.... all the rest I threw out there. In reality Celtic and Rangers (when they rebound fully) would be the only teams that would be good enough for the Premier/Championship.

All the rest would likely be League 1 and below...

I had forgotten about Aberdeen... good catch.

Regardless, would never happen. Celtic (and Rangers) don't want to lose the Champions League money they get every season, although the EPL tv deal may soften the blow.

10 years ago, Celtic would have been competitive. But their ownership doesn't care anymore. They needed Rangers. Now, they have no motivation. They can destroy the shitty league without even trying.

By competitive mid table at best but you cant say they would be fine and not Rangers since Rangers won the SPL in 2004/2005 and Celtic won 2003/04. Celtic's 2003 team was one of their best teams the last 25 years and so was Rangers 2008 team both UEFA Cup runners up. But on a year to year basis they would not be close to the top 10. Those all time great teams I listed would fight for top 6 maybe. When it comes down to it Rangers is the more successful club and you could claim they would be better off.

Both clubs do have one advantage, which is their massive stadiums. Two of the biggest in the UK and Rangers would be heavily supported in England. But both would be no better than mid table competing with the EPL big boys.

However, I think Celtic would be a true sleeping giant considering the EPL's ever increasing aggressive marketing outside of England.

I think investors would be fighting to buy the club. Living in NY, one realizes that Celtic's already a pretty equal fan/TV draw to any of the top EPL clubs.

Rangers would be even more of a giant. Both have big followings in the states and in canada. But Rangers would a massive advantage in the UK.

Also, people seem to be forgetting that a ton of ex-Celtic players (and many of them weren't good enough for Celtic) play in the EPL and top of the Championship.
