Well of course that's just dumb. But in his post he even quotes the teacher's disdain for "godly" remarks. That's entirely different.

I don't believe and still say that when people sneeze.

It was banned particularly for its religious connotation.

Which is just dumb. It's simply meant as a common courtesy. People getting mad about that is a textbook example of people looking for something to get offended about.

Has anyone backed up the assertion the teacher made this "godly" comment besides the student in question? Curious.

Also, I cited a non religious reason to ban "bless you." Did you guys never do that shite growing up? Someone sneeze and 20 kids say bless you just to piss the teacher off? We must have been bored in Mississippi

I reread the article. Kids just said their "faith was demeaned."

In that case, while unprofessional, the teacher has every right to demean their religion as they do to practice it.

Still makes the teacher a miserable person if that all happened.

Yeah, some kids did

But it's seems pretty easy to differentiate between someone being sincere and someone trying to be a jackass

ETA: that also seemed much more of something to do in middle school, not as a senior in high school

Ya I think that's when we did it, but maybe this part of Tennessee is a little...slow.

I don't believe in god but this is ridiculous. Completely unconstitutional. Props to this girl for standing up to an unjust rule.

She's a senior in high school.. Not a 3rd grader.

I'd love to see what the teacher looks like. She has to be an insufferable count.

Posted by Wayne Campbell Misleading thread title is misleading. She was suspended for breaking class rules and then arguing with the teacher. Maybe the other student didn't appreciate having her religious beliefs shoved down their throat.

Nice to see someone read the article rather than responding to what their victim card reflex wanted the story to be.

Sure, if the story is even true. I do find it interesting how many people have accepted this short article as 100% fact.

shite like this is why a 50 state republic is an ever growing unrealistic notion.

It's also why I live in Williamson County and not Dyer

A girl I had just met sneezed, so I said "God bless you." She then tells me she's atheist and I should say "bless you" I looked at her again and said "God bless you."
My faith so I will present that how I want.
