I'm not God so I don't have all the answers glass. None of us do this side of Earth.

I mean...what about children that die young? How does that work? What is the age cutoff? So many questions that we will never know the answers to.

People choose to believe what they want. I certainly won't bash what others believe, but that doesn't mean I have to share their beliefs to be respectful.

But I really don't think just being "a good person" is good enough. I realize many don't like hearing that. Not when my faith specifically tells me that no works of mine alone can earn my place in Heaven.

But.....no use arguing this online. I'm not gonna change anyone's belief by what I post on here. And they won't change mine.

I didn't think I was a good Catholic, but I wasn't a bad Christian.

that can probably be said for many many young catholics, including myself. Catholicism has been jammed in my face my entire life. I finally get around to establishing my own beliefs in recent years and realize that I don't believe most of what I've been told was true. I don't judge people for telling me these things. It's their faith and what they choose to know and reflect upon. That being said, I hope they don't judge me for going a different direction with my faith.

I won't get married in a catholic church, nor will I raise my children catholic, however I feel the world still needs catholics.

Being a Christian means you are willing to die for your faith if necessary.
I am incapable of believing that.

How does the ISIS beheading of an American journalist evolve into the second coming of The Protestant Reformation?

Well, I am far from young -- will be 63 next month. But I will say that as a young person I saw things in black and white. As I have gotten older, I see things more in shades of gray. I believe in a God and I am hopeful that his Mercy outweighs his Judgment. If not, I guess I'm screwed.

I'm guessing that a "Catholic" card is not a free pass to Paradise.

I think some made comments about the crusades. Then CR said Catholics aren't Christians and here we are.

Nah Liz is actually very nice IRL.

She just has very different beliefs on religion, likely due to a bad experience in the past. I may not share her beliefs but she is still a cool chick

Exactly. Look at the thousands upon thousands of Christians who are getting slaughtered over there as we speak. According to what Ive heard they were given the option of renouncing Jesus and returning to Islam, but yet they chose not to renounce their faith, even unto death. My dad said something to me that struck me the other day as he n I were discussing this. He said, "You know, it's easy for us to say we won't deny Christ sitting here in our freedom, but if someone put a gun to your head right now and said deny Christ or die, that's when you really get a gut check.". He went on to say, though, if you are a true believer, and have truly put your faith and trust in him, God will extend a special comfort or grace to his children in that moment and will truly understand the words of Paul (I believe) when he referring to persecution said " To live is Christ, and to die is gain."

I would set the world record for "quickest denial of Christ" if faced with death.

Read the first couple of pages then skipped to the end. Jesus Christ this thread took a left turn. Can I say Jesus Christ?

As hard as it would be for you to not deny Christ to save your hide, it would be that difficult for me to deny him. I have NO doubt in my mind or heart that God not only exists, but Jesus is the Son of God and he died a torturous, horrible, agonizing death to offer himself a sacrifice for the salvation of all who would believe on him. Denying that would be, to me, denying everything my physical and spiritual life is predicated on. Being a child of God is more precious to me than anything else, and I don't think I could throw that away for a few more gulps of air.
