I would hope that you would be just as consistently impressed by those who self identify as Liberal (and sometimes Progressive) and their seeming inability to look at themselves critically as well as their general lack of self awarenessas well. But I doubt it.

in my experience that's just not true nearly as often. Of course that's anecdotal and far from scientific, but my experience is all I have to go on.

this is EXACTLY the kind of mentality i'm talking about. Why is it that posters like you can't handle an alternative point of view without resorting to personal attacks?

In other words, I could bring a lot more to this board if I always agree with your middle-school level analyses of things. How would that add anything to a board already dominated by middle-school level analysis?

Rex. Just don't troll and don't let your emotions influence your posts.

But your perception of reality is only as accurate as a person high on LSD.

We have a new one!

#1) my views are "right" and yours are "wrong"

#2) If you don't agree with my views then you're "stupid"

#3) If you don't look at the world the same way I do, then you must have the perception of someone on drugs.

All you're doing is proving my point for me.

Yes, straightforward hypocrisy. Accusing a person of personal attacks while attacking him personally with verbiage like" you people."

being critical of somebody is one thing, but ad hominems like the 3 i just posted are someone else. Surely you can see the difference.

And really it's not about the personal attacks themselves. It's about the complete inability many here have to actually have a calm, rational discussion on the issues without using them. It's this mentality that they are "right" and everyone else is "wrong". I have my views and they are obviously very different than most on here, but I have never and would never say someone is "wrong" for believing x, y, or z just because I don't personally agree with those views. That's the real problem i have. I have tried time and again to have adult conversations with people on here but it just can't ever seem to happen because of this kind of small mindedness.

Isn't calling out another poster against the TD.com rules?

I would anticipate it is mostly anecdotal because of a small personal/professional circle that reinforces your world view. But I may be wrong as well.

I wasn't calling Rex out, because there wasn't an ounce of animosity shown towards him regarding this thread. Rex had indicated that he was disappointed that CNN had edited a video in such a way that the footage appeared to corroborate the police officer's story. Therefore, I was curious to get Rex's take on why CNN did that.

What was my diabolical motive? I simply wanted to engage one of the board liberals regarding the matter of media bias. Imo, it potentially could've been a good discussion.

But by all means, please RA me so that I can be banned. God forbid we should have rational discussions about relevant issues issues on here

Correct. The model has always been to sell controversy. That's what CNN does.

Fox News shook things up by selling outrage.

At the core, that's the difference between the two.

Is this your best example of a persuasive and well-reasoned argument?

You must be a public defender for Orleans Parish.
