Really. Only an idiot would move to secure our Border, even though the Office sworn to do so...chooses to ignore the Law in order to import votes. He needs to move to have that bunch audited...like we-know-who does.

The Dems know that Perry is rising in the Conservative '16 race. They will ride him until his viability goes south.

Honestly, I don't care what the Opposition to Obama/Progs do. Whatever it takes! The strongest reactionary gets my vote. Obama has ruined politics for the foreseeable future.

Not everyday a sitting gov is indicted. Was this expected? Doesn't seem to be much of surprise to anyone.

It can be political bullshite all day. All that matters is the headline:

They just happened to convene this grand jury in a Texas county that went

Obama 60%
Romney 36%

I'm sure that's just a coincidence, right?
Seeing as that's the Texas county that contains the capital (locus delicti), the governor's mansion (defendant's residence), and also has statutory jurisdiction in political corruption cases, I'm gonna go with yes. Where should they have brought this indictment? Presidio?

True but idk how much damage this does to anyone but Perry. He had no shot at the presidential race and everyone but his closest homies knew that.

I don't see it impacting Texas elections much, if any.

And I'm not surprised; no doubt he did it. No doubt it's a retaliatory political play by the dems.

I was watching Jay Sekelow of the ACLJ, an attorney who has been ti the SCOTUS many times and he said the McCdonald case in Virginga is a bogus with hunt and NO LAWS WERE BRIKWN. He stated Virginia wouldn't bring a charge because zero laws had been broken.

So Holder and his federal buddies bring a case against the former governor when NO STATE LAWS WERE BROKEN. No quid pro quo. The governor promoted a state business, the business of the governor is to promote state business.

The case has no basis and will be thrown out.

This Texas case is another witch hunt.

I'd order the Attorney General of Texas to present the same charge to the grand jury first thing Monday morning and indict the Travis County DA.
Which would be really bizarre because she's not even running this show, it was handed to a special prosecutor from San Antonio a year ago.

That article is hilarious. The governor shouldn't stick his nose in his own county's business, eh? Not wanting to fund an office headed by a woman who endangers the lives of citizens is a bad thing, right Austin? Using his veto power to do so is criminal, right Austin?

I'm sure Perry is shaking in his ostrich skin Luchesse's.

This will ultimately be a positive for Perry.

No, the (alleged) criminal aspect was the threat of the veto power to force her resignation in advance as a quid pro quo for further funding. If he had simply vetoed it straight-up with no theatrics, there would have been no case.

I haven't done any research into our corruption statutes' text or interpretation so I have no idea how far-fetched that reading is. But from what I'm seeing of the posts here, the partisan cons are sure it's bullshite because they like Perry, not because they actually have any familiarity with the case or Texas corruption laws.

I don't like him, but I'm allergic to confirmation bias and it's too late on a Friday for me to bother hitting up Westlaw

I don't care if they deport Perry to Mexico over it, but nothing will happen here. If it's a crime for him to say "you fricked up, you need to go. And if you don't, I'm taking action to reduce your funding, because you can't be trusted with tax payers" money" then so be it. But I don't see anything ethically or morally wrong with it.

It's a shame that cocky drunk in the video posted wouldn't exhibit a shred of integrity and resign on her own. But you see enough of her character in the video to not be surprised.

Also, according to your link, this started a year ago. The timing of this coming out is juicy, no? Again, not that it matters. Perry is out in a few months, and Davis would need all other candidates to disappear from Earth to win the election.

And received gifts from the CEO, including vacation weekends, trips on private jets, expensive jewelry, shopping sprees for him and his family, use of a Ferrari, and the beat goes on.

If that ain't graft, I don't know what is.

So the Travis County DA's office brought charges against the Governor who withheld funding from their office because the DA wouldn't resign after her DUI?

Dems have made a cottage industry out of this.

There was also the ridiculous indictment of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, I believe when she was either Lt. Governor or State Treasurer. She was either newly elected to the Senate or the hands down favourite to win.

This is what the Dems do to anyone they feel is a threat. And I'm not especially a Perry fan.

Tom Delay, Hutchinson, Scott Walker, Ted Stevens, the list goes on and on.

Well, there was the Siegelman proscution in Alabama, so don't act like the GOP is above it.

Pretty much. I think Perry is an assclown, but the district attorney's friends are rotten to the core here.
