Have thought about getting one, I have to admit. Tacoma's are ridiculously easy to work on. Do you keep the hose attached permantly?

150K on an '07? Dang, that is a lot of miles. Mine is an '08 Dbl cab v6 and it is about to turn 70K.

You on Tacomaworld? I have used fortech's and mountain lions write ups to change the trans fluid (now recommended at 60K). Excellent site.

I was on it but I'm an ASE certified master tech so anything gained by using those taco sites was negligible.
I keep the filter hose permanently connected but not the oil pan drain.

you are all fools if you arent getting mobil 1 synthetic by the gallon at walmart for $25.99 and using wix filters. Motorcraft is good filters as well. FUMOTO drain valve on mine so no torqued drain plug required.

Been using Pennzoil Platinum cause it's recommended by Chrysler and it's only like $2.00 more per 5 qt jug at Wally World, but used to use M1 synthetic exclusively.

Fumoto valve FTW, no doubt. I had one on my old truck and have one now. Put a hose on the nipple and drain I to a jug, so easy and clean...now if only I could do a clean filter swap. Hot oil down the arms sucks...

Might want to give your vehicle a good look over, especially some of the "chain" places. Has the drain bolt been sufficiently torqued? Or over torqued, resulting in warpage of the drain pan? Was the oil filter even changed - did you mark it to make sure? Was the oil even changed? How do you know? Over/underfilled? Correct weight oil? Was the oil cap replaced? Tools left behind?

A friend of mine decided to use one of those national chain lube centers (starts with a "J"...) even after being warned. They over-torqued the bolt which resulted in a warped oil pan AND as if that weren't enough, they left off the oil cap... Yep, quality service right there...

OB baller logic dictates I just go buy a new truck.

Awesome!

Here is a question. Since mine is a prerunner with the TRD Off-Road package (2wd), it has no zerk fittings on the drive shaft, have you ever heard of any failures of the drive shaft u-joints? I am not a fan of not having any fittings, since it makes it impossible to grease them. So far, mine is going on 70K and no problems as of yet.

Im sorry, I should have clarified first. My truck is maybe worth 8k. I bring it to a local Ford dealer/mechanic. I give him 40 dollars and I get a new sticker in my glass with the miles for the next time he needs my 40 dollars. truck still runs so im happy

On older engines blow by and crap loading screw up your oil long before it breaks down.

You should never extend the drain interval on an older diesel no matter what you put in it. Soot loading dictates change intervals.

I see the oil pan valve in the internet, but not the filter hose.

Could you provide a link to something for that?

just use a 5/16or 3/8" " rubber hose, connect it to the nipple under the oil filter housing, run it to your drivers wheel well and use several pull ties to fasten it there. Come oil change time make sure the wheels are turned all the way t othe left for easy access to the hose end.

instead of doing this

I haven't seen any service/replacment recommendations for the u-joint. Is there one, or just replace when there is a lot of play in the shaft?

when it makes noise or starts vibrating change out with one from NAPA with a zerk fitting.

I prefer spicers with no grease fitting. Last set I had on my big truck lasted for 130k and didn't sling grease everywhere.
