Oregon and Washington and California (who actually started it all with Anchor Steam) have been doing this for 25+ years.

East Coast does have some good brews.

But the NW is literally the hot-bed small brew culture...of each town having their own local brew...and brew-pub/ale/public house...hell in Oregon they turn old elementary schools and houses into pubs.

Seattle is just as creative.

Seattle was solid, even non-IPA stuff. might be going to PDX next month, so i'll definitely have to check it out

Surprising Denver is so high on this list...have to check them out.

Denver had some really good pilsers (which is my preference). Just some great options out there

eta: read the list, portland #1. Now I'm convinced I should go

It's not a competition...

The more small business breweries the better.

More selection for us.

I love places that have about 100+ beer selections from all over...

There's so much variety that can be done with beer.

short list

JK....but Oregon ALONE off the top of my head is a long and awesome list.

Curious where those breweries you mentioned get their hops from. More than likely my backyard

Great places to drink beer in Oregon.

LINK

One of my favorites was Kennedy School in Portland.

Since its 1915 opening, this historic elementary school has been a beloved fixture of its Northeast Portland neighborhood. McMenamins renovated the once-abandoned scholastic gem and turned it into Portland's most unique hotel. Here you'll find 57 comfy guestrooms with private baths and telephones, a restaurant, multiple small bars, a movie theater, soaking pool, and brewery.

For neighborhood residents, out-of-town guests and business travelers, Kennedy School is a memorable and comfortable place to gather. The hotel is located minutes from Portland International Airport as well as to shopping in downtown Portland.
