Does Bama run a zone running scheme? That's what you're seeing now with us (started to come together last year), and it looks like he's thriving. Before we were primarily a power running scheme, and Ingram really isn't a power runner, although he can run with power.

The zone running scheme uses his assets, mainly his quick acceleration, balance and change of direction.

I've been a Mark Ingram defender on here. The problem isn't Ingram, it's the saints mediocre run blocking in the past. The dude gets hit in the backfield more than any Saints back. When he entered the game it's like the defense knew what was coming.

He will, then the RB's we can count on will start and deliver....aka Robinson and Cadet.

I still don't think Ingram is the answer at RB. That said, you have to give credit when due. He played very well last night. He showed vision and balance that I haven't seen from him as a Saint. The cut-back on his TD run was great!

I think he could stay here for the rest of his career and play well. It's all a matter of what he's seeking as far as contracts go. RB isn't a high priority.

Pretty much. The problem I seem to remember from past seasons was that he didn't make the right cuts or ran into crowds when there was a lane available (I'm thinking specifically of the goal line at the Jets, I think???).

He obviously has talent, and if the scheme this year is better suited to him, then great.

that and he was playing tentative it seemed like.

this too.

last night he was running with confidence. Being patient waiting for the hole to open up on some runs (especially the TD run). Didn't see him hesitate as much, he just cut up field. Maybe the light has finally come on for him.

I realize some of those runs came against their backups but I'll still take it. Why the hell not?

imagine how much he'd be getting called out on this board again if he hadn't had a good game.

Some people who will say, meh its just a preseason game don't get your hopes up. The same guys would probably be the ones who would have been the first to tear him a new one on here if he had a bad game last night.

you know... just the usual.

The truth is you just need to piss Ingram off. Marshal Faulk said Ingram needs to be pissed off each game to get psyched up. So every game coach needs to tell him he going to be cut for Brandon Colman if he don't step up.

Believe me I hope he proves me wrong, talent surely is not lacking. He is just not delivering like he did in college and the Bama fans excuse the Saints O-line sucks/less talented than at Alabama is absurd.

When he's hot he's hot, just not consistent.

It has nothing to do with his being from 'bama. That would be stupid. It has everything to do with his not living up to first round draft status.

bullshite. People in this thread, as well as very other thread about him, bring up him cheerleading for Bama or reference Bama in some other way.

Ingram was a best back the last half of the season, and looks like he's gonna start this year off the same way. But it won't be good enough for some of the people that can't take the purple and gold glasses off.

What? Ingram sucked during the last half of the season. Really sucked. He was a waste of a first round pick.

If people who are Saints' fans are pulling against him because he went to bama, they're morons. There is a better reason to dislike him, his pitiful pro career.

Hammer meet nail! There was an NFL scout on Reddit that described this in detail.

he's a 1st round pick that hasn't done anything of note except fumble in the playoffs.

I think you are one of the few people on here that actually get it.

TR hasn't done well because he has been in a power running scheme.

Eddie Lacy is thriving in a zone running scheme.

Ingram is starting to come around because of the change in blocking schemes at NO.
