Jimmy I for one would love that. We got a lot of misinformation and a lot people telling different stories. Some concise info would be great for a change

Also I'm all for a kid waiting and making an informed decision. I feel as if the star kids get wined and dined and get so much info crammed, they need the time to process it all. If the kid wants to flashy show and sticks to his commitment then I'm all for it. They bust their asses and a lot of us don't know of all the hard work they put in to get to where they are. A little attention and flash is well deserved in most cases

I'd really like to know what happened. Been following recruiting for over a decade and nothing was equivalent to that shitstorm.

I have no problem with waiting util NSD, seeing as it is the deadline. However, I think the whole waiting until an ASG thing is ridiculous. I mean, it is always some awkward announcement anyway. Point is, there is really no reason to wait to give a commitment just to be on TV; most of these kids have already given some kind of indication to the schools in contention, so it would be more respectable just to get it out the way and let the other schools that don't win out plan accordingly.

I think the term "enjoying the process" gets thrown around a lot, but can mean a few things. Sure, I am all for a kid enjoying his SR yr in HS, taking all of his trips and waiting as long as needed until he is ready to make this huge decision. However, I am not in favor of kids just delaying so they can troll fanbases on twitter and announce where they are "taking their talents" in some brief and awkward tv moment. Every year, there are a handful of top flight recruits that seem to care more about their moment than where they go to school. Seriously, I am saying that there are some kids that really don't care where they end up, bc they just see it as a stepping stone to the league. The media spectacle we have generated has been to the detriment of the sport and the enjoyment people get out of following recruiting, IMO.

Like others have mentioned, an early signing period could help solve some of this.

Just from a players point of view, it sucks that Arkansas can withdraw scholarship offers the week of nsd to local guys. They have to scramble to find a spot somewhere.

I think it's good to take all of your visits for that reason alone.

Some kids aren't allowed to go on visits until after the season, so you can't blame them for waiting to decide.

There is a lot of confusion out there about committable offers. We've seen this with kids like Adam Taylor.

Then again, you have some kids pull a Janzen Jackson and purposefully sabotage a particular team.

All reasons for an early signing period IMO.

Biggest question I have is there pressure on the kids to wait from Owners/Sponsors of AA games. I think that needs to be addressed; it seems to be the opposite of what you are pursuing (Schools pressuring, or just requesting, kids to commit earlier in the process) but the net effect can be the same.

That's a real issue. And I don't begrudge any kid for taking his time, weighing his options, and making the best, informed decision for themselves. If done properly, most kids won't catch too much flak. If done with immaturity and lies, then they get what they deserve. My other issue is the "close family friend", i.e. handler, who will sell a kid to a school for their own selfish gain. frick them and the coaches, staff, and alumni willing partake in those actions.

In the end, it's the recruits decision to announce when he is ready. I just wish the coaches/schools who were not getting the recruit would be told by the player to move on and focus on other potential recruits.

It should be their decision how to do it. If they have a real relationship with more than one school they should however privately tell both schools which way they are leaning rather than leave one in the lurch unexpectedly

Hate it if the kid knows where they are going which most of them admit to after the fact.

If they truly don't know, then I think that is okay. But to hold coaches and universities hostage all the while knowing where they will end up just shows poor character and even more poor parenting.

Parents should be teaching these young men how to be honorable, nothing honorable about looking for 15 minutes of fame.

I'm not a fan of it if the kid knows where he wants to go but holds out for TV & suspense.

It can hurt a program by not having a high profile guy working on others, while being committed.

But ultimately, it's the kids choice

The only problem I have is when the situation escalates to the point everyone knows the recruit wants to create a 'drama queen' atmosphere.

Otherwise, let the recruit have his moment of glory.

As long as they do not lie to the staff or do underhanded shite, then let them do their own thing. What an 18 year old kid does has zero impact on my personal life.

I had a few friends who ended up signing LOI, and none of them did it with all the glits and glam. They fell in love with a program, committed, and that was that. I respect an athletes decision to wait until the very end, and a lot of times it can be necessary to wait, as it allows players to see more of what programs really have to offer, allows them to get comfortable with a decision, but also allows to see how they pan out in that schools signing class. But I do not care for the prima donna bullcrap that it has become, where kids string along folks and take trolling to a whole other level. And I only graduated high school back in 2007 haha. The past 3-4 years of the recruiting parade has become a bit too much. Again, I respect an athletes decision to play the waiting game, I just do not care for the sabotage or over the top glam of todays waiting game.
