You know what I love to do while vacationing in Orange Beach? Post on a message board.

Me too. Sit on the balcony, smoke cigarettes, drink Dos Equis, read Harry Potter and post on TD.

The only advantage Gulf Shores has over Destin IMO is less traffic.

I laugh when tourists complain about the traffic.

Little do they know that Destin has BACK ROADS and once you learn them it is so simple to get from point A to point B

The traffic is not that bad in Destin anyways. I work on Hwy 98 and see the traffic from my office all day long and people who complain about the traffic in Destin has never lived in a major city that has major rush hour traffic.

No one is comparing the traffic in destin to Atlanta, but when you are on vacation at the beach it's not fun to sit in traffic. The highway near AJ's was a truly harrowing experience the last time I was there.

Orange beach has ways been way better than destin.

I can't think of anything that's better in OB than Destin. It's closer is the only reason to go

It's not even that bad during those months especially if you learn the back roads.

We do about 20-30 service calls /day from Ft Walton Beach all the way down 30a and our service guys are still able to do every task on their schedule and return back to the office by 5:00 because they know how to navigate the back roads.

You learn over time when to go places and when to wait it out for another half hour.

You learn what times to go to restaurants and when to avoid them.. etc etc etc

Wintzells oyster house is a must. Best seafood money can buy

You have fallen and bumped your damn head. Wintzells is ok. Better to just go to Joe Patties in P'cola and buy a few pounds of shrimp or blue crabs and have them steam them on the spot. The Wintzells in P'cola actually shut down over by McGuires Pub. If you are stayinf to the Florida side of Perdido Key, head over to the Oar House and grab a bite. Make sure you get your meal "Dirty" (etouffee on top). We have a place in Pensacola on the North side of Perdido Bay. We are 20 minutes from the outlets/Lamberts. The only time we go into OB/Foley/GS is to shop or go to LuLu's or Lamberts. The kids like LuLu's. Acme Oyster house is now over there across from LuLu's, but we haven't tried it yet.

So, after talking to about 100 people seems water here this week has been as clear and clean than it's ever been.
Ha, lucky me.

Back to 30a next year I suppose.

I wasn't complaining. I racked my brain for reasons why anyone would consider an Alabama beach better than Destin or P'cola and the only thing I could think off is less people...

And there is a reason why less people are vacationing at an Alabama beach. It's bc it's horrible.
