We just got back from Destin last week (Destin Point), it was super nice but really wish we could have made the trip post summertime to avoid the beach crowding in Mermaid Cove.

I'm guessing part of why you're able to appreciate it as much right now is because it's a little more peaceful during the week rather than the weekend?

Enjoy your time there, it's nice to get away from all of the Baton Rouge foolishness when possible.

The only advantage Gulf Shores has over Destin IMO is less traffic.

This. I don't know how anyone would say the water and beach is better in Gulf Shores.

So you go to the beaches whether it be in OB, GS, or Destin at their peak season and complain about traffic

Oh and thanks to all the LA folks supporting Baldwin County's economy in OB and GS

Orange Beach is okay, beaches can be dirty as f though. PICK UP YOUR TRASH!

I've gone probably 12 years in a row and stayed at different beach houses and condos up and down the strip. Not once do I recall seeing any of the beaches littered with trash.

I usually have pretty good luck picking up trash in the FloraBama.

I haven't been to NO since 2009 and didn't drink or piss on anything besides a toilet seat

I've probably spent close to 300 nights in the Florida panhandle(Pensacola -> Panama City) but not one on the AL gulf coast. Family has been going to 30A for over 50 years, AL was never an option growing up.

20 years of stubberness gets you nothing. GS has it all why waste gas and money on Fla.

2 things exist there besides great weather.

1. Beached Whales
2. Tan Beached Whales

Plenty those too.

Only thing else I need to see us golf courses.
I've played every nice course in destin area 2-3 times.
Didn't bring my clubs this trip.

It depends what you want in a beach vacation, the water is clearer and the sand is whiter in Florida.

Been to Gulf Shores/OB many times. Destin water and beaches are prettier and it's not even close.
