You may make more initially, but get a few years of experience and I bet you could make more in Houston. You can live ok in Houston on 75K, especially if no kids.

So stay in Houston. If you're good at what you do then you can make up the salary difference and then some by the time you move out of your parents house and start dating girls.

VP also stressed that they're looking for long-term implications with considering to hire me. I just don't want to burn bridges inadvertantly with a company that has treated me extremely well during my internship with them and will more than likely extend me a standing offer once I part ways before the semester begins.

From experience that difference isn't worth it. Stay in the city that would make you happy.

Everybody is different but I moved back to BR for bigger pay increase than that and I am currently doing everything possible to try and move again. I was making less in Vegas but was happier.

Good thing though is you are young (I'm guessing) so a year or two in a shitty city and can save some money isn't always bad. Easy to up and move again if you don't have wife and kids.

Shreveport isn't that bad at all. I grew up there. Your cost of living will be a lot less in Shreveport compared to Houston. A single bedroom apt (in a good area) in houston could run you over $1000 easily. Compared to Shreveport where you could rent a small house instead. Depends on the type of lifestyle you are wanting.

he'll be making plenty of money to support himself in Houston. That's assuming he's single with no kids

Dude, Shreveport sucks bad

I would bet there are many more advancement opportunities within the company at the Houston job. That's why I transferred with my job from Shreveport

Way more opportunity for advancement in Houston, and more jobs. My dad was making around $110,000 when he moved to Houston. Changed companies 5 years later and started at $140,000. Now he's making $250,000 and he moved maybe 5 miles from his original office

If you really "hate" a place, don't live there.

The money difference will be negligible after a few years anyway.

If those are the options, and the difference in pay is only $9K a year....

I choose HOUSTON.

Easiest choice ever.

The only way I'd choose to live in Shreveport would be if the $$$ was insane or if I had family there.
