It's time for the citizens of Nola to look towards a more prosperous future, where law-abiding citizens don't have to rely on antiquated means of conveyance, peddled by the scum of the earth.
That future is UBER.
That future is UBER.

Cab drivers think they own the road too. During Mardi Grad when a bunch venture uptown it's unbearable. Bunch of twats.

Nashville has the automatic rate from the airport to certain locations set up to protect the cab companies as well. It is a $25 flat rate for cabs and $40 for Uberblack.
how can they do that?

For some reason that was the set rate, nonnegotiable and anyone catching a cab from the airport is charged that as a minimum. Effing ridiculous.
Don't blame the cabbies for that. They didn't get together and come up with that fee. You can thank the city and mayor's office.

The anti-Uber schtick is so fricking sad. It's like if someone wanted to come in and open a restaurant, and the preexisting restaurants showed up at the City Council bitching and moaning about competition.
And as a bigger picture issue, what the frick is so special about the cab industry that necessitates such tight regulation and protectionism?

You think food trucks have not been met with political opposition? They have.
Anything new, disruptive, and threatening is dealt with in his manner, using the law and your connections to thwart their advancement.

This is exactly what happened in Chicago. A city councilman was a prominent restaurant owner and the restaurant owners aligned with him to attempt to stop food trucks. It was pathetic and it eventually failed.
