He's got a brother with an offer and would play a similar role in our offense.

It was more likely being compared to Anthony Barr.

Lanard Fournette. He is legit too.

Isn't Lanard a WR though?

I personally think that Merritt would fit well in the system. He would be a wrinkle for the offense at the personnel level. Having someone that could run and catch with speed and ability like him would make our offense very hard to predict by the package we bring on the field.

For him, he'll be showcased in a pro-style, NFL style offense to show that he has the skills to play in the pros and make an impact. I think Cam would love to have Kirk too.

Lanard is 5'9 but could still easily grow a couple more inches. Definitely not a WR at the next level. More like a scatback or occasionally a slot guy, but I think he can get some good muscle on him like his brother.

But is Merritt a RB in our system? Maybe he'd be a change of pace guy?

He'd be that hybrid RB/WR. I mean Shepard played this position pretty well enough his first two years considering how terrible the play calling was, how bad the QB play was, and how bad the offensive line was.

I think Kirk could do what Shepard did. Maybe 50 carries (not as a freshman mind you), 20 catches a year type of player.

Wrong. He'll be predominantly used at wr. The kid can block as well so his chances of seeing the field early improve based on that. He's too good of a vertical threat to be used anywhere but wr. I know he played some rb at Newman and lines up at rb on occasion at Destrehan, but this kid is a spread wr undoubtedly.

You are exactly right, which is the reason he isn't coming here. Just doesn't fit our offensive identity. Kid is a heck of an athlete and will be a good player wherever he lands.

Kid lacks vision. Decent offensive player/AA on defense.

you dont think this kid could be a beast in the slot? he seems pretty physical the type that can also come down and crack a LB without being scared

He's a freak athlete. I want to see Kirk in P&G. Unless he's a no/low character guy, it's just hard to go wrong with freak athletes.

Players like Merritt and Dillion are awesome athletes but I'm not sold on them being great football players and what position they would excell at.

He can be utilized as a Russell Shepherd but better, and you don't think Cam Cameron isn't going to know how to utilize him?

There's always great athletes who dont make out to be good football players, even with the best offensive minds.

I hope him and Ricky Jefferson were friends and he is somehow trying to lure him in... I believe he transferred to Newman now

Apparently Merritt wants to play receiver now instead of RB which I imagine has to put LSU back in great position. Anyone else with more info.

I haven't heard/read anything regarding him and LSU for a while. I imagine he has moved on.
