quote:Virtually every war loser in the history of the world had legitimate grievances.
but do you deny that they have legitimate grievances?
quote:The loser, in this instance the far far weaker loser, either capitulates and ceases retaliatory threat, or necessarily suffers under the winner's boot . . . . in perpetuity.
How many instances in all of human history can you think of where one group of people peacefully accepted another group of people keeping their boots on their necks in perpetuity?
quote:No.
you fault the Gazans for objecting a permanent naval blockade. Come on man.
I fault Gaza for refusing to do what is necessary to allow the blockade to be lifted.
quote:
but all it does is get you killed when you're dealing with barbarians such as Nazis, Likudniks, KKK, ISIS, Al Qaeda, Afrikaners, etc.
Likud being compared to these other groups is absurd. To quote a former poster on the PT Board, you, trackfan, are a Moonbat.
quote:
How many instances in all of human history can you think of where one group of people peacefully accepted another group of people keeping their boots on their necks in perpetuity? Hell, the founders of this country rebelled over taxes, and you fault the Gazans for objecting a permanent naval blockade. Come on man.
And comparing Hamas to Colonial Americans is another doozy!
Hamas can't even articulate the words, "Peaceful coexistence with Isreal," much less try to live up to it. HAMAS (Palestinians) CAN HAVE PEACE THE VERY MOMENT THAT IT WANTS TO BE PEACEFUL. The same cannot be said for Israel.
Give me a freaking break, everyone but Israel wants that country gone.
This is win/win for Hamas, they can hold a population captive, by saying Israel is the evil. Want to support that narrative? Fire a missile into Israel and use the coming weeks of bombings etc to support that. Gain new members and tell the population that it is their duty to store weapons. You think these schools house these missiles for fun? what option do they have should they say no?
Once you add military components to a civilian area that area is now military and the equipment and men there are now a target.
Why does Hamas not have a base? (Gaza is too small LOL)
It is because they are not a conventional force, do they recognize the Geneva convention? Probably not, so why should anyone fighting them do so.
Finally, learn the history of how Israel was founded, I am sure after you went through the Holocaust you may be a bet testy.
Look at 1947 when Israel became independent, they were attacked.

quote:Most on this board are keenly aware as to how Israel was founded. Are you? Do you understand the legitimate basis of Palestinian resentment stems directly from methods of that founding?
Finally, learn the history of how Israel was founded
quote:
Does Hamas have a right to break the naval blockade that has been imposed on them for seven years. Do people who are occupied have a right to resist their occupiers.
They have the right to try, and the Israelis have the right to slap 'em down.
Just like they have a right to dig tunnels, fire rockets, and blow themselves up.
They just have to pay the consequences.
Now they could try a different tactic, but that isn't going to happen as long as the goal is to destroy Israel.
quote:
If you're saying that Hamas doesn't always do the most strategic thing, I agree with you, but do you deny that they have legitimate grievances?
Hamas has one goal, destroy Israel. I see no grievances.
I do see the Palestinian people having grievances, but don't confuse Hamas' goal with Palestinian prosperity. It's clearly not the same thing.

Oh, come on man, really? She did say that part of the problem was the size and density of Palestine, and that's a fact when you're talking about military operations in that part of the world. I didn't hear her "defend" the use of human shields or anything.
This. Listen to the short interview and you'll see this is correct. Let's remember she does know what she is talking about. She did help negotiate the prior cease-fire agreement. If you disagree with her on specifics points that's fair, but this is silly.

Since you support Hamas that means you support Hamas executing peace protesters for being Israeli spies.

C'mon Hail--she said "part of the reason is it is so small"... that's a bow to the geography and population density. That's all she said that could be used as an excuse for Hamas using civilian areas. The interview nor her statements went to whether they were intentionally using schools, etc. Like I said I think she knows what she is talking about since she helped negotiate the last cease fire. Probably knows more about the specifics than any of us.

Do you think Israelis are going to forget that the Palestinians supported the Nazis in WW2?
NEVER!!!

You do realize this was a joke right?
Just don't spit your used chewing Guam on the sidewalk.

No.
I fault Gaza for refusing to do what is necessary to allow the blockade to be lifted.
But that's what you're not getting. Bibi's (Likud's) position is that the blockade should NEVER be lifted because he doesn't believe in any sort of Palestinian sovereignty, and he's said this in Hebrew on numerous times, but on occasion he's even stated this in English.
quote:No.
And Guam might tip over because it too is small!
You do realize this was a joke right?
Unfortunately it was no joke.
Perhaps you've not seen the exchange?
Painful to watch actually.
I can guarantee you'd have seen it if Hank Johnson was GOP.

What the hell are you talking about? The PLO didn't exist during WWII, and anyway, today Israel has relations with the Germans, the actual perpetrators of the Holocaust.
quote:
hamas is either stupid or malicious towards their own people... or israel just kills palestinians for fun.
I think a little bit of both are true, Hamas doesn't always act strategically and the Likud government has absolutely no regard for the lives of Gentiles.
