Still, all and all, the rejection of the Medicaid funds is going to bite some states right on the arse beginning next year.

Short ter, maybe. Medicaid is garbage, though. Difficult to find a doctor, and doesn't even cover dental or vision.

A recent Oregon study showed that patients on medicaid had no discernible advantage compared to the uninsured, an, in fact, used the ER at a higher rate.

States won't go into debt because they have to balance budgets, but somehow the states are the villain because they won't take money from the Feds that the Feds don't have?

Not saying anyone's a villain. Just saying it will turn out to be a policy mistake.

Any chance you and Rex could move there anytime soon ? We would all take up a farewell fund for you both.

We would call the fund the " Weenie Dog Fund".

Good God Almighty People!

The OP is malignantly partisan stupidity even by the low standards of the idiot columnist who wrote it.

Medicaid policy and reimbursement is unchanged by NC!
So what has changed that might have affected that hospital's solvency?
Well let's see what CMS had to say in 2010 regarding effects of Obamacare on facility solvency:
quote:

The PPACA introduces permanent annual productivity adjustments to price updates for most providers (such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies), using a 10-year moving average of economy-wide private, non-farm productivity gains. While such payment update reductions will create a strong incentive for providers to maximize efficiency, it is doubtful that many will be able to improve their own productivity to the degree achieved by the economy at large.

Got it?

Bordering? This is in the same family as Republicans want dirty air and water and hate puppies.

Belhaven, NC has a population of ~1,700 people. Should every town in America, no matter how small, have a fully functioning hospital?

That is one clear, concise, straight-line example of cause and effect.

The same way that building the first powered aircraft makes the Wright Brothers enablers of terrorism. No airplanes - no 9/11 and 2,800 people would be alive today.

In what way could expanding Medicaid prevent something like this from happening?

There is one value to the thread.

It is showing us the style of propaganda being used on the low info voter. It's completely emotional B.S., but it's B.S. that works, unfortunately.
