Sometimes avoiding the appearance of impropriety is as important as avoiding the impropriety itself. The hiring move is going to be viewed with suspicion by the majority of opposing teams' supporters, and by a decent minority of LSU fans.

How many recruiting board references, veiled or otherwise, have there been about other teams hiring a recruit's GF or mom to secure the recruit? I prefer to reserve the right to view all of these dirty moves by other teams as such, and in order to be intellectually honest, one would have to at least consider this was done for the same reason.

Espn is only good for football games, basketball games and documentaries like "30 for 30." Beyond that, they're complete shite.

Who gives a shite? Why is this a story on ESPN? Didn't Tennessee hire a prospects dad, didn't bama hire a prospects girlfreind? GTFO with this bullshite. I'm pissed and I'm not watching sportscenter before bed tonight.

If it's bama and Saban it's brilliant but if it's LSU and miles it's low down dirty. Ha ha ha.... I just love it!! Effe em!

And what they failed to mention is that his brother is actually qualified for the job. It's not like they hired him off the street. F ESPN

Im sure when Saban called the executive producer to order him to run this piece

Well, I thought ESPN diligently looked into the Collins girlfriend hire to get him to Bama? Oh I guess they didn't after all. Oh, well.

For full disclosure when I cancelled my insider access over a year ago, the guy asked me why I was cancelling. My response was, "too much bama bias and I'm getting tired of wasting money to hear y'all praise saban". I wish I could see his face after that because he paused for a little over the phone like he didn't know how to respond...lol PRICELESS!

How is it improper to hire a ga from one school to be a quality control guy? It happens every year at every school. It's especially funny that some people think we just created a position for the guy. I can name the guy whose job he's filling. It's an open spot Patterson interviewed for months ago.

Didn't say it was improper. Only that people might view it as such. If it were plainly obvious that this was based solely on qualifications then I assume there's no ESPN piece for this thread to address. That said, LSU needs to do what's in LSU's best interest, and if making this hire comes with a side bonus, so be it.
