Oh no, I agree totally. Champ has Deion Sanders type instincts, and even if he has lost a step he and Byrd will be a nightmare for QBs to game plan for. I really think the only problem our defense will have is our rushing defense.

Very well could be teams focus against us as our pass defence should be even better this year. I believe we have not seen our ceiling concerning sacks. Junior will be on fire. Cam has improved every year and Hicks is a monster still improving as too.

Teams will try to run and run some more on us cause thats all they will have. Hoping Jenkins comes back soon from his torn boob.

Lyons Yellin ?@LyonsYellin 44s

From a local reporter who's been to all the practices, and not some yuckhead from NFL Network.

I think the best thing about our defense this year is the variety we have at Safety. Vacarro and Bush could be used in run support, but not be a huge coverage liability like Harper was.

Byrd can be single-high safety, with Bush/Vacarro of those two guys playing the lanes against the run or watch for TEs looking for soft spots in the middle. The other can effectively play nickel and cover any shifts out of the backfield.

I just don't have much faith in our LBs this year.

Hoping Fortt, Powell or Butler can step up this year.
Also seems Haralson or was it Keyunta Dawson that has been playing well so far in camp?
Just looking for any improvement in the LB corp this year.

Unfortunate truth. Too much potential, not enough proven talent. Hopefully Lofton can step up and play to his full potential. Hawthorne has been underperforming as well. The rest of the guys we'll have to wait and see. Haralson was solid last year too.

Lofton has been overrated ever since he left the shitstain Falcons. Hawthorne sucks as well even though he led the seahawks in tackles.

So, tell us, what do you think the Saints will do this year? You seem so optimistic.

He thinks:
Byrd was a bad pick up.
Brees is a shell.
Cooks is too small.
Khiry shouldn't see the field.
Champ is too old.
Griffin is underwhelming.

He's the answer to all the B&G glasses optimism around here.

Probably lose to Seattle again late in the playoffs because we can't play on the road. All our money is locked up so the roster isn't getting any better. If we can't win with the talent we got then we won't win until we go through a rebuild. I like our team for the most part and I think Galette and Butler will be huge for us at the linebacker spots but our Mike linebacker is soft. And our secondary is great.

On the cooks front, not that he won't be great but...

I wanted Jason verret or someone else with our first pick. Then use our second pick to get jarvis landry for our slot receiver. Plus we would still have our third rounder.

I understand the argument, but football is a very season-to-season sport. The best thing about the sport is you can have a great year, and smell like shiyt the next. And vice versa. Look at the Saints in '05 to '06, and then '06 to '07. Or us from '09 to '10. There are so many moving parts to having a successful season in football, I don't understand how you can go Nostradamus on us and predict that one single issue will probably be it. There are a myriad of decisions and problems that can make or break a team for the season.

All our money is locked up so the roster isn't getting any better.

I really think you're trolling. They are using the money to impact key areas that needed improvement last year. There is still some wiggle room next year. The FO has continuously put this team in position to have a SB season, year after year.

quote:

If we can't win with the talent we got then we won't win until we go through a rebuild.

That's always the case in the NFL, and pretty much every sport I can think of except golf. You are handed cards, you play them, place your bets, and call. The idea that we're unique in that other teams don't make the same sort of decisions is delusional.
