Kingwood or the high end neighborhoods in Humble give you the easiest access to town with the best value for homes. And that area is going to see some pretty significant increases in home values in the next 5 years.

Yeah its pretty nice over here. Great schools also. Just be sure to be in the kingwood or atascocita area of Humble. Basically near the lake unless you go all the way up to kingwood.

Katy and or Woodlands take the park and ride to downtown.

The two locations have the best schools in the area.

Depending on what type of home you want, you are looking at about $115 to $125 per sq/ft.

Sugar Land has the schools, easier commute than I-10 or 45, and you can get a good place with nice parks and pools for around $100-115/sq foot.

It's pretty far out there, but not too horrible when you work in the Energy Corridor. Wife works downtown but she takes the park and ride which is at Grand Parkway and 10 which is cake for her.

Our house is 39 miles from downtown and 18 miles from the energy corridor

Do you have to work downtown? My husband and I both work in the Westchase area and live in Sugar Land. The commute isn't bad, but I used to work downtown, and that commute crushed my soul. I think all of the suburbs have shitty commutes, though. My understanding is that Sugar Land has one of the better ones.

Most of the Sugarland schools are good and home prices are pretty reasonable.

Let me further restrict my criteria to narrow this down a bit:

frick the suburbs. Just not my thing.

And my work will be downtown.

Alright, now...carry on. Let's keep to inside the beltway, shall we?

How much house can you afford? You will also need private school most likely.

Memorial Villages - large wooded lots, good schools, decent commute to downtown and convenient to most significant places of interest (shopping, restaurants, etc)

The Woodlands, Memorial, or West U (but whatever it takes in Memorial or WU will be a large sum). Not that the Woodlands is cheap

I hope you make good money. You will need it to afford a nice place. Don't forget the price of private school either.

Oak Forest/Garden Oaks area just north of the Heights is blowing up. It's probably 200-300k less than heights property. Good private schools are located there as well.
