Because they can see it before they hop up?
Kill them with fire.
Grew up on the LSU lakes, was 13 and stuck one with a bow/judo point after it kept eating our benjamin pump doves (serious shite). Well, a couple was strolling by and the fricker tried running with an arrow hanging out of both sides. arse hurt for a week.

Get you an animal trap or two, put small can of wet cat food in it, and place it under or beside truck. Catch them bastards and take them on a ride never to be seen again.
This!
I had the same problem for years. Those cats will scratch up your paint on your vehicle. When I bought a new truck I decided to do something about it.
I put an animal trap under my house in the back yard. Use wet cat food, they will smell it and find it. Cat's paws do not like the metal cage so line the bottom with newspaper. Yes, they tear this to shreds once they are in there. Cover the entire cage with a blanket or tarp and leave just the entrance exposed. Cats like dark spaces.
I set my trap at night time and I caught 12 cats in 12 days. Took them for a ride in the AM on my way to work. Since I was in my backyard crazy cat lady never saw me or caught on.

You people may not like cats but it's chickenshit to take that ladies cats and drop them off in the middle of nowhere. There is a right way to do shite and that's not it.

Now you have freaking cats loose wherever you dumped them.
There's a better option than just dumping them.

Most feed stores will take cats to put in their warehouses for rodent control. Get to kill some mice and be surrounded by all the pet food you could want; not too bad of a life.
Cats are some of the best hunters out there and one of the few domesticated species that doesn't need any help from humans, but I still wouldn't do a dump off.

So a cat hoarder needs all of her cats?

They were feral cats. Some crazy cat lady was feeding them on my street. Sorry, my expensive truck was more important to me than some feral cat.

I agree with this. But I could not shoot them. I just relocated them far far away. A couple of times I would just pull over on my way to work and let them go in the woods. I would open the cage up on the road and they would dart out like a world class Olympic sprinter and into the woods they go. I will never forget this one cat. I opened the cage door and he ran out down the road for about 20 feet. Then he turns around and just stands there staring at me as if to say "What am I suppose to do now?"

what if I tie it to a tree and put a map in her mailbox? If she cares enough to get it in a few days maybe she'll keep it on a leash thereafter. If not, RIP.

I'm not gonna lie, I laugh my arse off every time one slides around and slams into the side of the truck bed

Trap them and spray them down with dog dip

Probably get more scratches on your truck from the car wash than you get from a cat jumping on it...

870 before they get to the truck

I don't have the answer as to what kind of gun will not harm a truck....but I can tell you from experience that if you startle a cat that is sitting on the hood of a vehicle, it will scratch the shite out of the vehicle when it tries to jump off the hood...
