he's a great back, but just compare what he did to iowa vs what jeremy hill did to iowa...

He was never going to be a first round pick -- just the way the nfl is nowadays.

Doesn't mean he wasn't talent wise -- he was top-15 in my opinion and one of the best running backs I've ever seen play in the SEC

Vision, makes people miss in the hole, doesn't get chased down from behind on long hand offs and has the ability to out run defenders to the end zone at 235 pounds -- Clemson, Auburn, etc.

true, but all we can do is compare stats between the 2 backs. Hill would have been a 1st round rb without the two arrests.

You contended that Gordon would not have been drafted over Hill. Do I really have any idea if we he would have or not? Personally, I don't know... Maybe? Maybe not?

Your best bet is to piggyback off NFL personnel, and that is exactly what I showed you with more than a couple saying Gordon would have been the first back off the board. Not sure you can find the same regarding Hill.

Anyway, to the topic at hand: I think it is realistic to see Gordon and Clement combine for 170 yards, but the Wisconsin passing attack account for just 150 yards. Won't be pretty through the air.

Anyone that is realistic can see this happening. But it won't happen on 20 carries like some other poster suggested. More likely that the two combine for that many yards on about 40 carries. I don't see Wisconsin throwing the ball 20 times against LSU. 40 carries is very realistic and around 170 yards would be around 4-4.5 YPC.

Maybe. It is also realistic to see Wisconsin put up 170 yards on the ground on 30 carries. Who really knows. LSU wasn't exactly a juggernaut on run defense last season (35th nationally).

Your fan base remains optimistic about your chances on the ground. I, too, remain optimistic that Gordon/Clement can move the sticks on the ground. Though if a passing game does not emerge, Wisconsin probably does not end up on the better end of the scoreboard.

Sure. But if they do you better pray that they score a defensive touchdown or two because if they only run it 30 times, they will only have about 45-50 total plays on offense. That won't be enough plays to control the clock and the game won't even be close. At least if they run the ball 40-45 times (regardless of the number of yards they amass), they will bleed the clock and shorten the game significantly.

You should familiarize yourself with their personnel a little bit.

I think since Cam likes to play the Tempo game at certain times if we get 75 plays to their 50 it won't even be a contest.

Wouldn't be suprised to see LSU give up 220-250 total rushing in this game.

No idea. How that splits between backs

i think gordon has a big day, especially in the 2nd half. LSU's defense will be tired from LF'S 200 yard,3 touchdown performance in the first half that they may wear down. of course, when chavis lets beckwith on the field in the 2nd, gordons performance will probably be neutralized.

I just know we'll know from game 1 what the run defense will look like.

I think our front 7 will be much improved. I think they will run for less than many think and will be forced in 3rd and longs, passing more frequently.

Less than 120

Ive been watching all of Wiskys games from last year.

Gordon runs for 75yds, Clement 40yd team total about 125-140yds.

Wiskys D is going to get gashed by LSU's run game. Stave is terrible will throw multiple picks

Against Iowa James White ran for 132 on 19 carries with two touchdowns. Clement did not get a carry. Why would the offense go away from success?

This year Taiwan Deal comes in as a freshman and will supplement Gordon and Clement.

As others have said, Wisconsin will run the ball. Passing will be a major concern. The pass game has been bad to barely fair the last two seasons and doesn't look too promising going into 2014.
