quote:When preseason hits you never know, but I don't see us keeping 3 QBs or 5 HBs this year, meaning we'll likely keep 6 WRs.
You think we'll keep Toon AND Morgan?
Colston, Stills, and Cooks are locks, and it's possible we keep Morgan, Toon, and Meachem barring another WR becoming a preseason star.
And if we keep 5 I think it will come down to Meachem or Morgan unless Toon shits the bed.

Toon needs to be sure handed and he may be on Colston's level (considering the fact he's just more athletic).
Now, he just needs to pretend every game is practice...

To me when we drafted him I thought he was the heir apparent to Colstons spot

I think so. I think it winds up being Colston, Stills, Cooks, Toon and Morgan.

I think this is his last chance though. If he screws up his chance this year I dont see us keeping him around and him becoming the next AA

quote:That doesn't take away from the fact that he performed when needed. Not saying he was great or anything but he was "ready to play".
Nah this is from more than just the first post. Nothing against blues but he touts Bushrod like he was a great find, and that he was "ready" when he took over when in fact it was an injury that forced him to be ready.

I put ready in quotes for a reason. I just meant that he didn't get the starting nod because the coaches thought he was ready. He got it because Brown went on IR and we had no one else. He proved he was ready(to be serviceable) in the games, but that's not the same thing as winning the starting job from Brown. He got it by default.
Think how Warner got the job from Green(and they really thought their season was done). Warner didn't get it because he was deemed ready, but he proved he was through play.
Edit:
Or Brady getting the nod only after Bledsoe went down.
But now I'm comparing good-great players to Bushrod. You evil bastard.

Or even better, how Brady got the job from Bledsoe

Same time man.....Same time.....

I think I got the edit in just before your post.
Maybe a more apt correlation is Brooks getting the job from Blake. I still think Blake was the better player and Brooks proved to be about serviceable after his first year. But Blake was getting older and we went with the hot young thing.

If Toon, Stills, and Cooks are anywhere close to as good as they could be, we're gonna have a stupid good team this season.

I concur, and along with Khiry we also have the future of our offense.

Even if they don't meet expectations we're already crazy good (especially on D). If they all played UP.....

For at least 3 years we could be set at:
QB
HB
FB
TE
WR 1, 2, and 3
LT
C
RT
Get some young guards(and/or hope Evans stays healthy) and hope Brees plays 10 more years for real and we're looking really nice.
