We need a wacko concealed carry guy down there. They aren't gonna stop and will eventually kill one of the victims.

The last time someone fought back was the Coulter case, and he was arrested for murder, had protests against him, and had to move out. Nola.com was pitiful in that story too.

I saw a band play at hi ho lounge not too long ago. It was packed and had to park a block away from the bar. It's not somewhere I would suggest to walk when the sun goes down.

I fully understand that the police can't be where every time occurs every time.
After last night, however, you would think that they would be trying to make enough of a presence in the area that anyone looking for round two would be discouraged.

The hipsters will eventually learn that you mess with the bull, you get the horns. It's cool and all hip to tell your buddies how bad of a childhood you had and your parents hate you, while living in a bad neighborhood and bragging about it. Welcome to the real world of getting broken into, robbed, beaten, and having guns in your face.
The majority of New Orleans isn't a place where some bleeding heart liberals or whiney hipsters should live. I've seen them walking through bad areas during the day and I always think to myself, "I wonder how long before that tard is gonna get robbed". St. Roch isn't the best neighborhood, so I'd hate to say the guy deserved it, but he put himself in that situation. Don't want bad shite to happen, don't go in areas where bad shite is happening.
I'm a white dude and I'm in bad neighborhoods all day, but I know what I am doing and I know what everyone else is doing. Most people shouldn't put themselves in that situation because it is flat out unsafe and they can't handle it. I've seen some fricked up stuff happen during the day that most people wouldn't believe, and I can without a doubt say that normal people don't need to be in those areas

Are you insinuating that all conceal carriers are wackos? If the victim in this particular case had a gun, he would have been able to deter the thugs and wouldn't have been beaten to a pulp and have to resort to flinging his house keys in defense.
That doesn't sound like wacko behavior to me. It sounds like someone defending themselves with their rights under the second amendment while not relying on police to stop the aggressors, which still haven't shown up 48 hours later.

Without going into too much detail, I had a bunch of ghetto lads following me once in Lakeview. I found out later that the had been on a morning spree of breaking car windows along Canal Blvd. When I saw two of them speed up their pace towards me, I simply pulled out my Glock and visibly put one in the chamber. One of them yelled, "He's got a gun!" and they all went scurrying like roaches. They had several behind trees that I was coming upon and I didn't even see them. I think just pulling out my gun may have saved my life. It certainly saved me from an arse whoopin and robbery.

Great story to hear. At least you weren't put in a situation to actually use your weapon, as no carrier ever wants to be in that position. Another win for the good guys

Dude got his arse kicked and left the scene. Police show up and he isn't there. Happens all the time. At the end of the article, he said he plans on going to the police station to look at photos. So, the incident is being investigated? Very misleading subject line.

This past Easter Sunday, in the middle of the afternoon, there was a shooting at France and N. Villere. I walked towards the intersection to see if anybody was hurt while I dialed 911.

Didn't work out so well for the last guy who tried that. His life was basically ruined for rightfully shooting someone breaking into his place. Didn't help that the kid he shot was borderline retarded. A whole big mess with Al Sharpton-esqu protests.

This is why people should cc or at least carry a knife with them at all times. You can't make a 911 call in a harry situation and expect them to show up in time to save your arse. Situational awareness and taking steps to protect yourself is how you avoid a beat down like this.

Most people definitely shouldn't carry a knife for self defense purposes because most people will have it taken away before it does them any (or enough) good.
