Who would you rather as your QB this season?

Why would I forget that? It's the primary reason to argue for him.

Winning right now with this squad is more important.

If I told you that you could have a player likely to compete for the MVP for 10 years or so to build around, you'd say no and take your chances to win now?

That's also assuming the trading for Luck throws winning now out the window, which it doesn't. I'd take the slightly smaller odds of winning this season and the next if it meant having Luck for his career.

Haven't you heard? Brees is playing for 10 more years!

Aside from this statement making zero sense, why do you type like that?

Yes.

And I love Brees. But yes.

Do y'all think we would be that much worse with Luck instead of Brees now? I don't. Brees is better right now, of course. But Luck isn't that far behind the top QBs in the game right now. Manning, Brady, Rodgers, and Brees are the Big 4. And right after them, it's Luck for me. There isn't another QB out of the rest that I would take over Luck for the 5th spot. And he's just going into his 3rd year. Brees is a stud with a handful of years left. Luck is a stud with 10+ seasons left. And when in his prime, Luck will be just as good and most likely better than Brees. And Brees is a HoF lock. But that's the kind of player you are getting in Luck. Truly a once in a lifetime type of QB. And imagine him being coached up by Payton.

People overlook what Luck did his rookie year. Led the Colts to an 11-5 record and playoffs. The same Colts that won 2 games the year before. And he did it with Reggie Wayne, a bunch of rookies, no OL or running game, and a bad D.

No way Luck has 4 or more 5,000 yard passing seasons.

I'd say it's very likely with the way the passing rules are going in this league

This thread is disgusting. I'm gonna ride it out with Brees til' he retires!

Same here. I wouldn't do the trade even if Brees openly announced he was retiring after this season.

As far as I'm concerned, after this happened...

...Drew can play QB for us until the day he decides to retire, decreased production be damned. Not only for everything he's done for/brought to this organization, but also because I can't stand the thought of him playing for anyone else. Imagine, for instance, if Tampa got him. That team would be downright scary.

The people saying they would do this trade are overthinking and underestimating the future.

It's absurd really.

It is strange how many fans think of five years from now and not actually now. Its like the fear of sucking is stronger than the desire to win, in a sense

Lol. We gonna pay Luck with Monopoly money? Sick free agents? You mean players like Keenan Lewis and Jairus Byrd?

Cap Hit 2014
- Luck 6 Million
- Brees 18 Million

Cap Hit 2015
- Luck 7 Million
- Brees 26 Million

Yay, we brought in sick free agents Lewis and Byrd. Guess there's a new rule where you can only bring in one stud free agent a year or something?

With 10+ million more to spend each of the next few years you can bring in more than just a Jarius Byrd every season.

Then after the next few seasons Luck is going to get paid, but it won't be Brees money unless he would have won a Superbowl here. If that's the case then this scenario is a win.

Would trade Brees and a 1st for Luck right now.

Our shrimpy QB just got drug tested for making shell-like comments about his age. Mid-life crisis incoming.

However, The Saints have only landed 1 true franchise QB in their entire history and it was almost entirely a complete fluke that it happened.
