Put me down for that. Where are we all meeting for the virtual celebratory beers after this?

That would be really fricking thought for me. At 5'9 183 that's a lot of weight regardless of how much I workout

At my most fit I was 5'10 185 and could do 32 pull-ups a set.
Don't use your weight as an excuse.

Ok let me rephrase that then. I don't do pull-ups...ever really

No shite. Make it easy, 50/day for 1500.

I'm 6'3" and weigh 230. I do 30 widegrip a day for a warmup for my workouts during the week.
you got this! and if not, just think about how many you'll be able to get by the end!

Pullups suck. I'm too fat for all that
Posted on 8/20/14 at 9:03 pm to CptBengal
Guess it depends on the style. Wide-grip I doubt could do. Close, palms facing, hammer grip and the like probably would be fine

I never used to do them, then when I started it was rough, now they arent a thing.
like anything else, gotta start first.

Started out not being able to do 1. The could do 5. Then 10. Then 12. Then 20. Etc.
You gotta start somewhere.

It's the number one reason why I see people give up. They dont think they're progressing fast enough.
Funny enough, if they just stuck with it, theyd see the progress. Take myself as an example. I am not naturally strong. I work, and work hard, for lb of weight and muscle.
Yeah there are days when I see the guy who walks in and bests my PB with reps and get a little discouraged. Then I go back to work.
I respect a physique the most.
It cant be bought.
It cant be traded for.
It cant be bartered.
You cant cheat to get it.
Nobody can give it to you.
It doesnt matter if anyone like you.
No matter who you are, how much money you have, what your personal life is like....
You can always show up and go hard. Thats the one place of true meritocracy.
frick, now Im all fired up to go tomorrow!

I did something very similar with my pull ups too, tyger. Bought a pull up bar that hangs on your doorframe and started maxing out every day. It was 5 at first, then 6-7. One day about a month or two later I hit 12 and that was all she wrote. I try to get in 300/wk every week for the last couple years. Consistency is the biggest factor in working out for me. And finding ways to keep the intensity up.
