Did you call Sgt King and tell her to look at that thread I was bitching in?

Eta: I'm guessing that means yes since you haven't replied to your own thread, but have been replying to other threads

You still have any open seats? My gf just read about this LINK that happened 3 blocks from my house and is finally realizing what I have been telling her is true. She drives by there around the same time every other night of the week. She's from California, so she was somewhat against it until she moved down here and saw the patterns of crime and seriousness related to them. Already been through police carrying qualifications in CA as far a shooting and classes, but no CCW experience

I'm in if it's not full.

Bring a .38 or .45?

Not sure what a service caliber weapon is?

Can bring my own microwave if that helps.

Wanna explain ?

p.s. I don't spend a lot of hours on this board -- I do look at it a few times on most days.

I still have two seats.

She needs to give me a call Monday if she'd like to attend. eta: 225-766-4422

eta: Just clicked on your link, and see that you're in N.O. There are probably classes a lot closer for her than driving to BR for my class, but she's still welcome.

She lives off of Acadian, and I'll tell her to give you a call. She drives down here a couple of times a week to hang out and so I can help her with homework though. Either way, I don't like her living by herself a couple of blocks off of government, and she needs to get a better understanding of guns and carrying. She flipped out the first time she saw I had a pistol in the truck because it is illegal in California, and doesn't know most of the general rules down here.

Eta: Is there any information that I need to make sure she knows before she calls?

I just told her about it and her response was, "Is that with all of your imaginary friends from Tigerdroppings?"

That's funny.

Seriously, lots of women just don't view this stuff the way we do.

To be honest, 99% of people are sheltered from what goes on in the bad part of society. There are only a few(cops and myself for example) that get to see how they behave most of the time. I had a crackhead try to steal my blower while I was 5ft away talking to him a few weeks ago. I can only imagine what would've happened if it were a legit criminal and it was her standing there. They could've just said frick the blower, we're taking the girl, and that would be it. Now she wouldn't ever be in that neighborhood, talking to those people in the first place, but what happens when they come to her neighborhood?

I have tried to tell her that it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, but she typically shrugs me off. Reality of the situation is that it isn't something to be shrugged off, and the situation three blocks from my house proves that

I have a smart, beautiful, delicate, tough RN niece that was the same way as your GF.

She (with my help) has changed her tune. I'm buying her a hammer less .38 and she's gonna take the class.

Tell your GF to not be so stubborn.

Alright thanks man. She's been at work all day so I haven't heard anything from her. Sounded to me like she was looking forward to it, but I can't ever understand what she says on the phone because she eats the microphone when she talks

I think I am coming up there tonight, so I'll talk to her about it

Eta: She also needs to know how to go about getting it because she has only lived in Louisiana for a year and a half. I couldn't find any information online other than you have to be a resident for 15 years
