I'm probably going to be on Southwest a lot more since Dallas Love Field has lifted the non-stop restrictions.

I have a non-stop roundtrip ATL-DAL for around $200. Way cheaper than any competitor.

You are not the normal traveler then. Odds are for most people, Southwest will be cheaper. That is my only point

yea because delays and cancellations are exclusive to delta flying out of baton rouge

This is the thing.

If you were going on a trip via car and estimated an arrival time, it can easily change based on weather, car trouble, bathroom breaks, traffic, etc.
Yet people book a flight and think the arrival time is 100000% accurate and should never deviate from that.

Ive only flown 4 times this year, to L.A., Vegas, Chicago and Denver. Southwest was at least $100 cheaper than anything else for each.

What website do you use to book?

I am fine with delays. I understand. But when you cancel my flight because you didnt get enough people to pay for the flight, and you dont compensate me for that and just shove me on the next plane whenever that is, that is bullshite.

You ever try to fly delta out of Baton Rouge? 50% of the time your flight will be delayed or cancelled

Been flying DL exclusively out of BR for 3-4 years. Easily. 100+ segments to/from BTR. I've had one cancellation and it was when the ice storm hit earlier this year. I had one spat of delays 4 trips in a row in 2012 but that was when ASA/regional elite was running gate ops and is no longer the case.

For me not to fly delta it has to be significantly more expensive. I would say the threshold for me is generally $150.

I do enjoy Jet Blue though. I flew to Charleston a while back for $132 roundtrip

I'd love to hear the full story. And what you asked for in compensation that they told you no.

Why is that though. I just pick the cheapest one. When I am flying through the air on a metal tube all the airlines seem the same to me

Does your work pay for flights?

I would pay more to stick with one airline if work paid for it, just so rewards are consolidated.

When its your money, $100 pays for a lot of airport beer.

Bring an unopened bag of or box of chocolates for the flight crew, especially long flights...they'll treat you like a king for the whole flight.

There's always at least one at the front of the plane to greet you. Hand them the chocolates and say, "This is a long flight, you're going to need something to stay sweet." Boom, their panties are wet and so is your scotch glass.

Definitely trying this for my flight tomorrow.

Edit: Boarding now. I'll update again when I land.

Edit2: Landed. I gave the person in the front a box of assorted chocolates. Keep in mind that this plane was not full. Before we took off I was approached by one of the attendants and they said there were some empty first class seats, and they upgraded me for free. I was offered 2 complementary glasses of wine and was checked up on probably 10 times.

TL;DR - It worked.

With work Delta is always the cheapest. Southwest is not an option to where I fly for work.

I am only referring to personal travel when I say what my threshold is. I get free booze with a Delta ticket when flying. But that is paid for by me.

ETA: Getting ready to land in ATL. You guys have fun.

i have tried this, and you can normally get a free drink out of this, but don't count on getting upgraded. especially on any of the big airlines.

they are super nice to you when you do it though.

eta: also tell them your mother was a flight attendant, and you know the job is really hard.

You're are probably like me and don't fly often enough for it to make a difference(2-3 times a year)

These guys fly once or twice a week
