I grew up when Sid Crocker was calling the games on the radio. I think John came after Sid. BTW, both worked for local TV stations too. I think Sid was on Channel 9 and John on Channel 2.

Was Sid Crocker after J C Politz ?

Sid was the voice of Tiger Stadium. He was the PA announcer before Dan Borne. I don't think he did radio broadcast. I know he didn't in my lifetime, and I began attending games in 1957. Sid was the Tiger Stadium PA announcer way back then. I believe that John Ferguson followed J.C. Politz on radio broadcast.

You're probably right, but for some reason I remember Sid on the radio. I know that he announced the games from Tiger Stadium. If I'm not mistaken, a radio station out of New Orleans used to broadcast the LSU games nationally. I think it was WWL.

The game has changed so much - and I'm not sure if I like it. TS was heaven back then. Despite the expansion, the old place had much better karma.

vjp819 is correct...Crocker did the Public Address in Tiger Stadium - not play-by-play on the radio. Ferguson came in after Politz.

Eldertiger you are right, that is JF. Bad case of announcer dyslexia. And I started listening to LSU games in 1965. Dang, hate it when I screw up.

Listened to the call in 72 of Jones pass to Davis to get my ears on straight.
