WORLD SERIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (one of 16,892 world series events)

Saw something on my newsfeed last week from some woman asking for prayers because her kid was playing in THE world series. Yeah, THE world series is not/has not/ and will never be in Beaumont.

A few years ago I was at the Exxon at the corner of College and Perkins when a little boy with one of those buckets ran in, gave the money to an older guy (assume it was his dad) and the guy bought lottery scratch offs with it.

Since then I just leave my window up and enjoy my AC/heater depending on season.

I hate the guy at work that sells the plate lunch for his kids AAU team all the freakin time. It's legitimate if you do it once or twice, but this guy was asking if I wanted a plate lunch once every two weeks. Quit your damn job and open a restaurant if you're going to ask me if I want to buy food from you that much. I really don't give a shite if your kids team can't afford to go to Toledo to play in this years regional qualifying semi finals.

It is pathetic how much parents fool themselves into thinking these USSSA, AAU, etc., programs are important.

I think the fundrasier is wayyy more legit. I just can't stand that they do them so often. Plus I'm a picky eater and I don't like half of the stuff that they make for plate lunches anyway. But it feels like you get put on a guilt trip when you say no. And it's not like the kids are doing anything. The parents are doing everything anyway.

The people who started and the ones who continue to perpetuate this nonsense can all go eat a dick.

Do something that provides a service to raise money. Sell something, wash something, etc.

My favorites are the 10-12 year old kids standing there holding a sign wanting me to donate to their team while wearing a brand new pair of Jordans, Oakleys and a stupid arse flat bill hat with the tags still on it while texting on their iphone.

Apparently they should be donating to me if they have the cash for all that crap.

It's just pure laziness and I blame coaches and parents. Hey lets put on the uniforms and go stand on a busy street corner.

I can't recall seeing travel baseball teams out there begging/asking for donations.

I do see them selling raffle tickets, lunches etc. all the time. MANY organizations and coaches will not let their teams/players/parents/ ask for money without a fundraiser .. ie no begging.

I print a banner or two for teams and yes they do sell sponsorships on team banners..

funny did one for an aau team recently no sponsor...

the baseball teams I see just asking for money are usually wreck teams or league teams - getting ready to travel.. and last week a church league team...

the comical part of it all is the nationals and world series... yes... most good teams don't take those serious.. they take the state tourneys serious.. the world series is nothing more than an extended end of the year party.

the two tourneys my kid is most proud of is winning a state tourney and knocking off best team in state to finish third once...

and yes it irks me to constantly be bombarded....

I just asked someone going to the Cheerleading worlds.. how do you know who wins?

Maybe I shouldn't have said begging. Have 2 coaches for 2 different travel teams at work. Not only are they constantly seeling candy, raffles, football squares it has become virtually year round. Oh and they are getting real greedy...ususally a fund raiser for football squares is half to the team and half to the winners of the squares...no they take 60%

I could be wrong but I remember when i was playing you had to win to advance...aren't some of these teams just entering in a tourney in Panama City or wherever w/o even being that good?

when I coached I always told kids we had to win X-Y or Z to go to state or world series...

Enjoying summer. Running around with friends. Going fishing. There are WAY too many things to list.

Kids shouldn't be tied down to schedules at such a young age.
