I bought a motorola surfboard SB6141. Been good so far and has gotten great reviews. I have heard the combo units arent very good quality on the modem or the router side.

I have a cisco one. Make sure you get one with docsis 3.0

ETA: I actually have one I can sell you if you don't need one with a phone line. Brand new in the box.

Just saw that best buy is selling refurb Airport extremes for $120. Should i stick with the Asus that is on its way or should I go for this?

I don't do Apple products. We just had to replace a failing Airport Extreme in our office, it lasted about 3 years.

I got the Asus RT-AC68U a couple of months ago, thing is amazing, by far the best router I've owned.

My tablet and phone use AC, it's been quite nice all over the house and even out by the pool.

I had looked at the 68's but couldnt justify the $70 more it would cost.

Yeah the only difference between them is that the 68 has a dual core cpu and USB 3.0.

Which is only needed or makes a difference for home servers and running VPN's.
