PG: Holiday/Rivers/Smith
SG: Gordon/Tyreke/Ferdette
SF: Salmons/Miller/Babbitt
PF: Davis/Anderson
C: Asik/Ajinca/Withey

If Young is signed, that brings us to 15.

Do you guys expect this to be the roster for Game 1? If not, what do you want to see done before then (specific if possible, not just "Sign a SF" or "trade EG")? If we were to sign one of the available SFs for a minimum deal (Hamilton/CDR/Johnson), who becomes to most expendable? I'm guessing one out of Withey and Babbitt.

Also, has anyone sat down and really watched all 4 SL games? How have Withey and Young look compared to each other, beyond stat wise.

Withey probably would get claimed off of waivers. Babbitt not so much. Could the same be said of Young as well? The question might not be who's most expendable, but who's least likely to get picked up if you need to bring them back a month or 2 into the season.

I think you sign Young, cut/trade Whitey, and leave 15 open for Dells pick to click from the D League when Sandy gets cramps.

Young has looked better than withey in pretty much every way.

Babbit and probably one of withey/Rivers(jimmer pickup has me seeing the signs) are gone.

I could see Rivers involved in a trade at some point. Same time, I don't think Jimmer is better if Rivers can be a reasonable catch and shoot threat.

Wouldn't be shocked if they waived Babbitt and replaced him with another SF. I would imagine D League action for Smith and the winner (if there is even a competition) of Withey/Young. I'd almost rather cut Ajinca and keep those two, but his guaranteed contract probably prevents that.

I honestly don't know why we brought back Miller

If these 5 guys (Withey, Babbitt, Young, Miller, and Fells) are fighting for the last 4 roster spots, then I'd rank Miller at the bottom of that group

Or at least let him and Fells battle it out in training camp

Because we only had 1 6'8ish guy on the roster capable of guarding SFs in Salmons.

While Fells has been impressive in the SL, I don't think you can put him above Miller at this point.

Fair enough but you don't think Reke can guard the SF position?

What if Tyreke is injured, then you're down to just Salmons, or vice versa. Do you really want Tyreke expending all of his energy shadowing Durant? His skill set is breaking defenses on the other end of the court, not being a pesky defender.

I'm thinking miller/ Babbitt/ withey may be some kind of packaged filler that may go with EG somewhere.

Instead of cutting any of those players, would the roster spot still be open if we say sent Withey or Young down to the D-League?

Miller did do a great job on Durant that last year I was at that last Thunder/Pels game of the season and I was very impressed

I guess that skill set alone is valuable enough to keep him on the roster which I'm fine with I was more so curious than anything

There were reports a couple days ago that we extended Young a two year contract. Nothing was ever confirmed though.

If he continues to develop the skill sets he currently has, 3 point shooting and defense, combined with his size, he should be a decent player off of the bench. He also was our emergency back up PG last year for a couple of games after Jrue and Rivers went down.

It makes no difference. Right now DLeague doesn't give teams any exclusive rights to players. If they are on the roster and sent down to DLeauge they still count towards the 15 available roster slots.

I don't remember which thread it was in, but people have asked about the prospect of all 3 bigs playing at the same time. Thibbs wouldn't do it.

Thibodeau pretty much ruled out playing Noah, Gasol and Gibson at same time for defense. Said lineup could've worked in 90s, not now.

Do we think they do anything with Fells?

Probably the only way is if they don't keep 1 of Withey/Young/Babbit. Babbit's your only backup stretch 4, Young is your only high motor energy big, and Withey is a 2nd round pick with potential. It's not looking good for Fells since they signed Jimmer.
