Born on the 4th of July.

It's really underrated.

Great story.

And it's not about bullshite...rah, rah...bullshite. It's about folly - from a human personal folly to a national folly...(although, who says their intentions were mistaken - considering what the government wants is often what we don't know)

Born on the 4th of July is the best example of lambs to the slaughter for reasons they don't know except for false flag rah rah young kids bravado and mistaken belief their country gives a rats arse about them.

It's an eye-opener from that old generation who thought their country gave a shite about them and we're more than just a giant consumer for profit mall - but instead found out - it's about sacrificing bodies for corporate agendas.

A notion we all know now...all too well.

Apocalypse now.... Has some great scenes but the movie generally sucks

We were soldiers...... Very good war movie

My favorite is The Green Berets. No one else mentioned it but it is an awesome movie. Brilliantly shows what Army Special Forces is capable of accomplishing.

We Were Soldiers - (I served in this exact unit so im biased) This movie is hands down the best for realness and graphics. Plus this is a true story which always makes a movie better. Clear #1

Good Morning Vietnam (Kind of a war movie)
Apocolypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Platoon

Not better than any of the previously mentioned but Bat 21 is not a bad movie either.

My CSB moment... I was attending OCS at Ft Benning Ga when they were shooting We were Soldiers Once and Young there. One of the TAC Officers was an extra.

Not a fan of most military movies but even I like the training scenes from FMJ.

1b. FMJ
1c. Platoon

2. We were soldiers
2b. Deer Hunter

everything else.

I liked Redux better than the original as well.

Apocalypse Now

I enjoy the Redux version more as well. The Playboy Bunny rainy helicopter scene was useless and should have been cut for theatrical release, as it was, but oh MAN, the French Plantation episode in Redux, especially the dinner conversation, was vitally important. Not only did the dialogue elucidate some very salient points about Vietnam in general, it also tied the film together.

I've always thought Platoon was typical Oliver Stone dreck.
